Default Info needed please....

Hello all I am not lookin for reasons to have or not to have this surgery my mind is set that im goin to do it! I have always been overweight I weighed 200lbs in the 6th grade school was hard for me and now that im 28 and weigh in a 440lbs things are not any better I have only worked 1 year out of the last 5 years not because i chose not too but no one would hire me i had many interviews but no call backs i want to be a truck driver lol nice goals huh? but with my current blood pressure it is impossible to pass a DOT physical OK for the 1st question.

1. Will blood pressure go down as i lose weight?

2. What things should I beware of after surgery?

3. Did this surgery make you happier with yourself and over all life?

4. Is it possible to control how much you lose, i am 440lbs i would love to get down to 250 and not much less that that, is it possible to maintain a goal weight after the surgery?

any info yall can give much thx..

1. My blood pressure went from 140/90 to 90/50.

2. Keep browsing this board for answers.

3. I'm much happier with myself, but it hasn't made life any easier. Too early to say it's any better. However, I'm better able to cope with what life has to offer.

4. You reverse the "rules" when needed to maintain or gain weight back. Search for "Pouch rules for dummies" on this forum to get an idea what that means.

I had my one year check up w/Kelly today. My blood pressure was 117/72, I have been off both my hypertension meds since 2 months post op. I am much happier now, hands down! Life is good. As far as maintaining your goal weight. The doctors will tell you what they want you to do to maintain and not lose any more. Best wishes to you on this life changing journey.

I left the hospital without my BP med. My BP now is like 100/70. I am soooo much happier now and I've got 40-50 lbs to go to hit goal. After surgery, beware of fried foods, sugar, carbonated drinks, and all the attention you will get! I don't know of anyone here (I may be wrong) who has had trouble stopping their weight loss, but if that is a concern ask the doc at your consultation. Good luck!

My husband and I have both had the surgery. Life is better in terms that people don't look and laugh like before. They look and flirt, but I'm dealing with that. There are emotional changes that you go through, but that's what support groups and this forum are for. It's great to wear normal sized clothing, fit in the booths at a restaurant, and just feel great. I never really had high bp, but my husband did and his is now normal. Just being able to move, bend, walk, sit, stand without losing my breath makes it all worthwhile. Having such a major life-altering surgery is a personal decision, but it was the right one for me. I wouldn't change a thing.
