Angry I'm so mad

I went back to my surgeon’s office for a 3 month check back in May. After seeing the doctor I was told that I had to see the nutritionist and then a family counselor and would normally see the physical therapist but she was off that day.

Fast forward to July and I get a bill for mental heath services for $92 which my insurance won’t cover. I didn’t ask or need to see a counselor but was told it was part of appointment. Now the doctor’s office telling me I had the option to see her or not. I guess I’m stuck with paying this bill. I was so mad I cancelled my 6 month check up.

I'm sorry to hear you got a bill like that. It's so frustrating to do what the doctor tells you to and then end up paying for it like that.

Arrow Don't Cancel Your Appointment

I totally understand your frustration, having to pay out-of-pocket for a service you thought was a covered expense. For example, I just received a phone call from my allergist's main billing office. Apparently, I was supposed to pay a $10.00 copay for my weekly allergy injections, but no one in the allergist's office ever told me. Now I owe $170.00! Geez!

Even though you're frustrated, please consider keeping your six-month checkup with your surgeon. Your long-term health should be a priority and not getting your post-op checkups might be detrimental to your health. Just consider the $92.00 as a small price to pay for good health the rest of your life.

Just my two cents...

You need post op care. I despise the nutrionist at my docs and the nurse coordinator BUT I need to see a doc that specializes in wls. I would call the mback and try to work out a compromise. Maybe pay a portion?
