Smile Stop Body Hate

This is a little something for those of us who are struggling with body acceptance. It was info my sister sent me from her support group in PA.

It's time to transform body hate into healthy self-acceptance. Use Stop Body Hate to list healthy self-statements you can make to counteract critical internal dialouges. You'll feel less depressed or anxious the more you accept the reality of your weight, shape ans appearance. It takes the pressure off while changing your eating and exercise habits because you arent pushing yourself to look a certain way by a predertimined date. Give your body permission to take care of you and to adjust your weight naturally.

Accept the reality of how your body looks TODAY. You dont have to love it, just own it. You have two choices, you accept it or you dont. Hating your body rarely motivates change. If it did, you would look the way you think you should by now.
Make a list of accepting self-stements about your body. Make sure the self-statements are non-judgemental and factual. For instance, if you say to yourself, " My thighs are fat and I'm disgusted by them, " you have labeled your legs as unacceptable. If you change your statement to, "My thighs are fine and I can live with them," you opent the door to accepting your body.

Write 10 things you love about your body. You can list them here, or at home on paper, whichever you chose JUST DO IT! Good luck ladies and gentlemen.

1. My body has done exactly what I've asked of it -- it gained weight when I wanted it to.

2. I love my eyes, they change color depending on what clothes I wear.

3. I love my nose, it's distinctive.

4. I love my arms, cause they can do so much from hugging my kids to lugging in groceries.

5. I love being pear shaped - I have a waist, whether I weigh 135 or 265.

6. I love my heart. It does exactly what it's supposed to do.

7. I love my brain. I like being really smart.

8. I love my skin. It's clear and soft.

9. I love my elbows. They are the strongest part of my body, and I'm double jointed.

10. I love my face.

Ok, that felt weird, but good too.

Okay I'll give it a try!
1. I love my legs-They are thin and shapely
2. I love my feet-They are cute and have never failed me.
3. I love my ears-they are dainty and look great with earrings. Plus I can keep my hair short.
4. I love my breasts-I had a reduction and don't mind the scars because they are easier to carry around and perky.
5. I love my nose. I think it is adorable. Nose ring and all.
6. I love my lips. They are by far my best facial feature. Nice and pouty.
7. I love my eyes. They are not too blue, gray, or green just a nice blend.
8. I love my ever shrinking butt!
9. I love my hands. They aren't soft but I need my callouses for work.
10. I love my wrists. They are dainty and look great with bracelets.

I agree it is weird but I do feel better!

# 4 made me cry, I am still having a hard time making a list, but I never stop to think that if i didn't have my arms I wouldn't be able to hug my sweet child.

Thank you Nancy for bring things into prospective.
