Default Had or have diabetes?

Like a few here I had, have type two diabetes. Now I take nothing for it and it is no longer an issue. My blood sugar levels are in the 80's or 90' whenever I check it which is hardly ever anymore. For those like me what would say if someone ask you if you have diabetes? I tend to never tell anyone any more that I have it. I guess if I was talking to a doctor I would tell tell my whole story but for everyone else I would'nt say I have it. BTW I can eat sweets with no bad consequences. Not ever a rise in sugar level.

I also have diabetes which I expect to be fully resolved by WLS. (It was previously fully controlled by my losing weight, which I have since gained back).

My MD said once you are a diabetic you are always a diabetic. On the other hand, if you went to a doctor and had labs done you wouldn't be diagnosed!

I say it's no one's business and you can say you're not a diabetic to everyone but your doctor.

I HAD diabetes. Mine I got under control prior to surgery about 2 years ago with diet and exercise and just choosing not to eat high concentrations of sugar. I no longer have high blood sugars.

Since my surgery 1-14-05 I have had more problems with LOW blood sugar. I was diagnosed years ago as being of the true hypoglycemics. My doctor said it is very rare to have your blood work come back as a true hypoglycemic but mine did. So since surgery my blood sugars have gone down to the 30's on several occasions. One time I almost didn't make it into the kitchen to get juice, and my brain was so shorted out I couldn't figure out how to make a call. I was to say the least very very scared. But this to shall pass. (maybe) we shall she what is taken away and when will stay.

Also since surgery speaking of pre surgery illnesses. I have reduce all of medication to 1/2. I have Rhemotoid arthritis and fibromyalgia, and colitis and asthma and the list goes on. I am on 1/2 the usual amount of pain medication for RA and fibro. I went from almost completly being disabled to working out even jogging in less than 6 months. I have not taken any colits medicine in about a month and I am back to work, working part time.

I would have so say this is a miricle. To go from not being able to leave the house most days to working out daying and returning to work. WOW I would have this surgery again in a heart beat.

I heard one of the best ways of describing what the surgery does to Diabetes on the website that talks about Carney Wilson's story.

The surgery makes Diabetes go dormant. That way, people can ask more if they want, or they'll let it go. It's a quick and easy way to tell it....

I had gestational diabetes with all three pregnancies. Then when I finally went to the dr. almost two years ago now with a body falling apart, found out I had type II. I've lost a little over 170 pounds since my GB and my level is in the normal range now. So I tell people I'm "almost not diabetic". (brings smiles and sometimes questions like: is that like being a little bit pregnant?" haha) I take metformin still. I'm due for new bloodwork pretty soon. Last A1C was 4.8.

Seriously I do say that I have Diabetes Type II that is now under control thanks to the weight loss. This is a good question though. I think I'll ask my dr. what an accurate response would be when I see him next week.
