What books to read?
I have bought a few books out there on gastric and weight loss surgery. One was Weightloss for Dummies and it was okay. I have heard about French Toast for Breakfast being great. I was wondering what books everyone has read and what ones are a good read.

The weightloss surgery for dummies is awesome. its my bible. Took it to my introduction class for the surgery and showed it to the dietician and the nurse and they said it was a great tool to use. So thats my favorite. There are some books with real stories of people who had this surgery, but I fail to believe that those are beneficial since everyone is different. You can't expect to have some of the complications nor the successes, so i would stay away from them. And one of the best things you can do is stay posted on TT! You can always find what you are looking for on here! Good Luck!

My personal favorite was the Weight Loss Surgery For Dummies. I got it long before surgery, and read it through multiple times. It was very helpful to me!

The one I highly recommend is "The Real Skinny on Weight Loss Surgery"
Authors: Julie Janeway, Karen Sparks and Dr Randal Baker
I read it because it was written by 2 of my surgeon's patients, my surgeon and several members of his practice. These 2 women have become my mentors when it comes to my support group. So I admit I may be a bit biased. But the book is written with a wonderful sense of humor. It presented things from the patient's side of all of this. And really tells it like it is. Yes, they talk about complications they had that others don't but for me I appreciated the knowledge of others experiences even if they weren't the same as mine. Its an easy read but a book I have gone back to often. Sometimes I just needed it to know that things I was feeling physically and emotionally were 'normal'.
You can pick it up at amazon at a good price.

WLS for Dummies was my purchase.
I'd read anything Beth suggests and "The Real Skinny on Weight Loss Surgery" is on my list for purchase.
Another book is:
This is NOT Brain Surgery...
But There IS a Magic Pill!
A Mental Health Companion For the Gastric Bypass Patient
by Dr. Teri Kai Holtzclaw, Ph.D
The BOLD is the exact title.
Dr. Holtzclaw was a Gastric Bypass patient. I scanned the Preface in case you're interested in getting this book HERE. (.pdf file, Adobe Acrobat Reader required)
This book is basically about WLS and Mental Wellness. Well, you'll get the idea from the preface.

Finish all four twilights...I loved the 4th book! They are all worth the read and I hate to read LOL I think the last book other than Desperation that I read and liked was Super Fudge LOL so if I can get through all four and love it that much...well, just read them all before you start on a new series!

I second Beth's suggestion. I recently checked that book out from the library, and it's a good read. It's funny at times, which is refreshing.
My favorite is Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies.

Marella,
Thanks for .pdf file. I read it and it seems like a book that I would love to read and think might be something I need to read. I have looked up book to order it and see that same Dr. wrote 2 other books. Have you read them or heard anything about them??

You're Welcome.
No, I've only read the one I listed. I didn't research any other books... I think I will.
My only reason for these books is my long-term success. Anything that I can do to make that happen, you know, reprogram my mind to accept thin, be thin and eat thin, (as well as healthy), I know that I need to read and re-read often.
Thanks for doing the research.
