Question just a lil curious....

I'm interested to know how many pounds one would lose about 3-4 weeks post op. Reason being is that I am going to florida 4 weeks after my surgery- should I start buying short shorts now or will my old clothes (size 20/22) still fit?? Can you guys let me know what I'm in for.....any input is greatly appreciated

You old clothes should still fit, though loosely. Wear a belt. Or browse the thrift shops or discount stores to get clothes. I was losing a dress size every month. It can get very expensive replacing your whole waredrobe each month. It's so tempting to go out and buy all those cute clothes that you can fit into. I'm restraining myself so i can have an all out shopping trip when I reach my final size after having PS done.

In my first month, I think I lost about 20-25 lbs. I noticed the loss mostly in my face and tummy. Yes, I would wait to be buying any thing yet!

Hi!

I am just over 4 weeks post op and am down 35 lbs. Like Anne said, though, most of it is coming off the top, not the bottom (face, chest, arms & a little in the tummy). I can still fit into most of my preop pants/shorts but they fit and look much better now. It is very difficult to resist the urge to shop now but other than a new swim suit, I am not going to buy any new clothes until the ones that I am wearing now are way too big.

I'd say that it wouldn't hurt to buy a new outfit for your trip, but I'd wait until just before the trip to pick one out.

Default Weight Loss

Most women do lose weight from the top down... it's the natural way of things. During our child-bearing years, our bodies are designed to horde fat around our mid section/hips and thighs just in case we need it for having babies.

What a cruel trick God plays on us!

But eventually, you'll lose from the middle too.

Like others have said, during that first month, you should notice more loss from your face, neck and upper body. I'm 11 weeks out and still wearing my old size 20 shorts, but then again, I don't like tight clothes. I kinda enjoy walking around in my baggies! It's nice to feel comfortable once again! You'll feel the same way.

If you do decide to go shopping before your trip, make sure you go RIGHT before because you won't be able to guess your size.

Have fun on your trip! And remember, you'll still be healing and getting used to your new tummy and body, so take it easy!

I'm such a mother hen.

WOW Angela 35lbs..thats awesome. I hope I'm that lucky..lol
Traci you're right about 1 thing- us women lose it from the top down. I remember the first time I ever lost 30 lbs on my own about 2 years ago doing the atkins and i noticed alot came off my face, shoulder and even my back! It was great but as we all know the atkins doesnt really work for longterm weightloss, esp. for diabetics like me- since my body has always craved sweets
I'm a bit worried that I won't be able to enjoy my trip since I will only be a month post op. OMG guys!! After tomorrow comes my surgery!! So0o many emotions s0o0o lil time...Most of my family don't even know it!! I start my liquid diet tomorrow and the fleets oral lax. (eewww)
Please pray for me! Thanks guys for all your support- ur the best!
