Need Advice on Birth Control Methods
Hi everyone,
As some of you know I have been off of work and in school for a while now. Well I can't afford COBRA and had the shock of my life when I went to pick up my birth control pills. The price was so high and I didn't have the money so I went to Planned Parenthood. They told me they would give me a years supply at no cost. So I just got back from a 2 hour appointment empty handed. It seems I am too old and have a history of Migrains so they cannot give me the pill. The problem is I had a really bad experience on the shot and am scard to death of the IUD. They have set an appointment for next month to give me the IUD but my husband is as leary as I am. I have brocures that I am going to study.
Has anyone out there been on the IUD or know any current info. I know it is different now but I am still scared about something foreign inside of me. We have to do the damn calendar system this month. They gave me 1 morning after pill. Wow a lot of good that will do me.
I can't get pregnant for a while because I am still healing from my Tummy tuck.
I am so confused.

Iud????
I used an IUD a long time ago (in my late 20's, I think) but I loved it. I had no problems and had one for about 5 years. They're probably even better now. I had some kind that was a "T" shape with hormones on it. I think it lasted like a year each time. That's about all I know. It's been awhile since I've needed to worry about it.

I had one for five years and absolutely loved it! Your chances of pregnancy are really low and if there are hormeones they are very low. My didn't have any hormones. I had it removed when I decided to have a tubal while I was get a cyst removed from my ovary. A year later I had a hysterectomy but it was in no way related to the IUD. I think it is a great option. The doc that put mine in his wife had the same thing. Good luck! I hope this helps out a little!

Try it and if you dont like have it removed. At least you can stop it immediately vs the shot you cant. I am on the shot and love it. I know someone who has the IUD, and she loves it. Or if all esle fails, go to another Planned Parenthood and dont mention a word about migrains... just a thought!

Other methods
I use these things called condoms .........lol I know that they're not the best thing in the world, but hey it's safe and they keep you from having to worry if you're going to get pregnant or not. Well I mean I would use them if I did those kind of things...

Well, I don't have to worry for a while either
When I do get a chance again, it's condoms for me. I'm enjoying my womaness too much to have it quelched by hormones again. I would like to get my tubes tied or get an IUD. Can't find anyone who will do a TL or IUD since I don't have any children. Supposedly, an IUD won't work because an unstretched cervix is too small. Also, since I'm married, I need my husband's permission to get a TL!
Arghh, a woman still doesn't have complete control over her body.

Jeanie,
I am the result of a faulty condom. Nothing is full proof. I am going to read more about the IUD.
Bridget,
I gained 50 pounds in 3 months on the shot. I will never go back on it.

My daughter is adopted. They didn't say anything about me not being able to get one.
