Red face Hair Loss!!

I know this has already been discussed but I just feel compelled to start a new thread about it. I'm soooo scared about the possibility of losing my hair! I can deal with vomiting, diarrhea and even pain from surgery but what terrifies me is the HAIR LOSS!

I think my hair is by far my BEST feature. It's curly but twice a year I get it chemically straightened (Japanese Hair Straightener -- very expensive but so worth it) and I blow dry it under (sort of like Jennifer Aniston) or I flip it out. On a fun day, I curl it with a curling iron or do big, soft waves. It's really thick and soft and shiny. I know I'm going to be soooo upset if I lose it. I'm trying to prepare myself for that very real possibility but I just hope it isn't too bad for me.

I can deal with temporary hair loss (even for a year or longer) as long as I know it's only temporary, but my biggest fear is this will be an on-going issue. Does it eventually grow back or do you always have to worry about hair loss?

Mine is falling out and thinning big time-I am really freaking. I thought it wouldnt really be an issue for me as my hair is really thick and good quality. wrong,it is dull now(4 months post op)and thinning a lot, particularly on the side that I sleep on.
I have been asured that it will pass-I am really watching my protein and trying not to get too upset about it. the falling weight and the smaller sizes are definitely worth it anyway!!!

I've always had a problem with my hair falling out. I do have to say it's falling out a lot more! Fortunately it still looks the same. Hopefully it remains like this and doesn't get any worse!

Jen - there really isn't anything you can do to guarantee no hair loss. Some lose a little, some lose a lot.

Keeping up with your protein is vital all the way around. I was also advised to take a B complex and a low dose zinc capsule. Thankfully, my loss was barely noticeable.

Some also swear by biotin but I've never tried it.

The good news is that any loss is usually temporary.

Default I'm losing my hair :( ALOT of hair.

I told my mother about it...and she just said, "Oh, its the winter. Everyone sheds alot in the winter". Well, I went to get my hair blown out nice for my senior portrait, and my hairdresser asked me about hair loss because she's noticed that my hair had thinned out alot. Atleast someone agreed with me!

I have VERY VERY VERY thick hair, so it doesn't look like I'm going bald or anything...but still its just so sad that its happening. But I feel like I can deal with hair loss for what I'm getting in return! Or atleast, that is what I'm telling myself.

Default Hair loss

Hi Everyone,

I am pre-surgery so I haven't gone through the hair loss yet. A lot of people swear by taking biotin for hair loss, including my own surgeon. I have been taking it as part of my pre-surgery regime and all I can say is that my hair seems to be growing faster than it used to. Grama Lisa

Trying sleeping on a satin pillow case. Your head will "slide" and it causes less friction. My hairdresser told me this, but unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any satin pillow cases yet.

hahaha I've heard that "in the winter everyone sheds a lot" speech before lolol I don't mind hair loss if it's TEMPORARY. I really hope it isn't going to be a "rest of my life" thing.

Thank you!! That's what I want to hear ... temporary.

Over the years (on and off) I always take "Hair Factors" by TwinLab. I take it as a precaution because I get my hair chemically processed twice a year. I've never had hair loss due to the Japanese Straightener but I always take Hair Factors 2 months before and 2 months after the process just to be safe. Here's a link to the Hair Factors I buy and you can see the ingredients: VitaDigest.com - Hair Factors - Twinlab Hair Factors - Buy Hair Factors Now and Save!

I wonder if I can take this after surgery. I'll have to bring a bottle in when I go see D. Bertha next month and get his opinion because he may have something else in mind.

When I take Hair Factors, I always take 6 pills every day (3 in the morning and 3 at night). Maybe that is what helps keep my hair so thick and full, who knows lol

Yes, it's temporary. Mine is already slowing way down and growing back in. I think the Biotin helped. Anyway, I've never heard ANYONE say that it never grew back. It always grows back at some point and doesn't continue for life, from all that I've heard.
