Hair is everywhere. I feel like a dam dog. I can run my fingers through my hair and pull out at least 5 strands everytime. Do this 5 times and there is a total of 25 strands. Just to let you know I have soooo much hair. My hair dresser normally thins my hair out. So now my hair is not that bushy any more and I really like that. My hair actually looks so much better now that I lost a lot however this is only the beginning and I wonder how I will look at 6 months.

Aloha,
Asia

Yeah, RELAX! Honest!

Maybe this picture will help? You can see the 'sprouts' of my regrowth. Note that I've always had a big forehead, so don't fear that you're going to lose so much to have a different hairline! But you can see all kinds of new growth.. looks kind of odd for a while, but I mostly live in hats ATM. lol.

Just know that it DOES come back!

Yes, several of us have... I had a LOT of scalp showing in my part particularly, where you see the regrowth showing up the most in the pic I posted.

There are some that lost more, though the person I'm thinking of the most also had PCOS which also causes thinning hair so she had a double whammy.

I just bought some Nioxin today on the recommendation of a non-gastric bypass friend. The hairdresser seemed optimistic that I would have good results. She did say that it takes time(more than a week) for the effects to be noticable. I am praying that it works. I had a full, thick head of hair when I began this journey, and my hair was my best feature, and now it is SO thin!! It's embarrassing to have a ton of hair laying on the back of my clothing, and my coworkers walking up to pick it off of me. Is there any regret of having the surgery because if it? Heck no!!! I have not been this happy or healthy in more than 11 years!! I feel like I won the lottery, without the money of course!!

So far *knock on wood* I haven't started losing my hair... When does it usually start? I've heard between month 2 to month 6....

The main reason we lose hair is poor nutrition in the early weeks/months following WLS.

Once you start eating a reasonable amount (quality foods), the hair usually starts to grow again.

Vitamin deficiency can cause it too - iron it a classic one. So keep on top of your vitamins and other supplements.

I checked Nioxin's website. I thought it was a product to make your hair grow but they claim that their products are "designed to help improve the appearance of thinning hair".

I started losing mine at abut 2 months and lost it pretty good for the next 4 months or so. Started taking Biotin at about 3 months and I think it really helped slow it down. It slowed down and started growing back in. By about 8 months I wasn't losing it any more. Now my hair is all different lengths because of the new growths. The new growths are about 4 inches long now. In about a month or so it should look thick again.
