I can say for me it has taken my period away all together. I have not had a period in about 4 years. Occassionly I will spot but that is it! I had a really light period to begin with, I only had it for 3 days before my son! And then When I gave birth I was unsure about my sons health issues so I had the Mirena inserted! HEAVEN every since!!!

I need to go back for a checkup appointment to see why it feels this way and why I am having this severely painful periods. I was under the impression that they may stop all together or just have two or three a year. Not my case.... But it is nice to not have to worry about pregnancy. Just remember that you will be more fertile now that you are dropping so much weight. This somehow boosts the chances for getting pregnant, so if you don't want a baby, you better do something.
I would call your doctor immedialty! There should be no reason for Pain or discomfort! And be careful, cause if its not inserting correctly you could still become pregnant. I would have the doctor check!!!

Default love my iud

Hi keyra,

Just wanted to chime in and say that i too have the mirena iud and I have had absolutely no problems. I love it. I can't even tell it's there. I do still have a light but very regular period. Most people I know that have it, haven't had any issues with it. Plus, you don't have to worry about bc for 5 years if you don't want to and if you decide to try for more kiddos before 5 years is up, you can just have it removed. Your body and mind are in the middle of so many changes during the first year or so after surgery, I couldn't imagine adding a pregnancy in the mix. You are young and have plenty of time to have babies! Why take that risk to both your health and your baby's health when you can wait. Just my opinion. Hope you find something that works for you and your hubby!

Trina- I agree with Coleen, it doesn't sound normal that you feel pain during sex. I don't think that's suppossed to happen. Not sure about the heavier periods, cause I know the device can affect everyone differently, but you shouldn't be in pain. I would get that checked out! Just a thought.

A~

Default IUD's & BC's

Hey Keyra...I had an IUD actually 2 the Mirena(5yr w/ hormones no periods) and the Paragard (10yrs w/o hormones, heavy periods) both I had in for about 2-2 1/2 yrs. The mirena made me feel nauseas all the time after 2 yrs, and the paragard took out due to cramping(severe). And now Im back to high school basics..lol On the pill. But my hubby and I for 10 yrs except for when iud's were in place would wear condoms and pullout and no babies...but even w/o condoms thats always an option I know it'll be hard him coming back from deployment. Mine came back and luckily i had the iud's..lol But implanon per one of the other posters..I dont think would be good for you my friend has it but it also has hormones.

Thinfortwins...Thats good u didnt have any problems...do u still use it?

Iv lost a total of 46lbs so far. but that really is not alot. At least not i my book for but being 3 months out i guess its not bad really.
But what will happen if i get pregnant. Im trying to find another type of condom but not being able to read german, or anything buying them on the economy kinda bites.

Im scared out of my mind. We have been wanting another child since we had out daughter 6 years ago. But my weight was always an issue. Now... well i still want to get pregnant but.. im worried. My doc is no help at all. he thinks i should just tie my tubes and be done. Im 25. Hello....

Am i crazy to just say screw it leave it up to fate. if i get pregnant enjoy the blessing..... HELP......
I had RNY on 5-18...got pregnant sometime mid/late June...

I have the Mirena also and LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I haven't had anything but one episode of spotting since last fall. I hardly ever spot and I've had it for years. In the beginning I spotted often though.

I know there are sheepskin condoms out there. Forex? (If I remember correctly from many moons ago.)

I have had an IUD in for 8 years, and I don't even know it is there. IUD's have come a long way over the past ten years or so. They are much safer now, and it is almost impossible to get pregnant with one in. Don't just assume they are horrible based on what you have heard. Talk to you doctor in depth about them. Do it soon, because for the first month you need to use another form of BC with the IUD.
