How much weight will I loose?
Hi all....I've got a question.
I know each of us are different and each will lose weight at a different pace.
I also know the more we have to lose the great the weight-loss will be.
What I'd like to know is how much did you loose in the first month and the second month after surgery?
I've got a 100 lbs to take off and my doctor says don't be surprised if I only manage to get off 75 lbs of it.
What do you think?

I think you will make it to 100. You will suprise yourself. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would make my doctor's goal. You will be amazed. I can't wait for you to be on the ride of your life! You have waited so long and your surgery is just around the corner.

Peckdale,
Like you say, everyone is different. I also want to loss about 100 pounds. At one month, I had lost about 36 lbs. Now, at jus a little over 2 months, I have lost about 63 total. I know I haven't been eating, though, so I think I am losing a little faster than normal. But I think we will both make our 100 pounds. Good luck,

They say that
The documented long term success of the surgery is about 80% of your excess body weight. With just the surgery and no help from you.... 80%. My doc told me the same thing. I've lost 108 lbs 9 months. That's way over that 80% goal my doc set and I haven't worked very hard on my diet, but I do concentrate on excercise (which actually stalled my WL for a while!). She also told me that for most ppl the honeymoon lasts up to two years and then without good habits you would rebound to that 80% mark.

I had a BMI of 40 and a goal of losing 100 lbs.
1 month 42lbs
2 month 65lbs
3 month 77lbs
not quite 4 months yet 83lbs
I'm a man and we tend to lose faster for some reason.

My doctor told me not to obsess about numbers. She said that my body would know what is the right weight for me. We just have to follow the rules and live and eat healthy. For instance, if she told me to lose 100 lbs. and I only could lost 95, I would drive myself nuts about the remaining 5 lbs. and not rejoice about the 95. Chances are, you'll bypass the 100. Enjoy every minute of this roller coaster ride. It's awesome!

I have some advice-Do some pre-op measurements! I didn't and really wish that I had. That is where you can really tell the difference so I am told. I just joined Curves on Friday and they did some but I have already lost about 70 lbs or so in 3 months. Hopefully, I'll notice a big loss in inches in the next three!

Another word of advice
You're quite right about everyone losing differently. We are all different. However, if you fully take advantage of your honeymoon period like a lot of people on here, you will get really great results. If you slack off during your honeymoon period and don't exercise or eat healthy, then you may never get to goal. I know that is not a FACT at all.. but I've seen so many people not even get close to goal and they were cheating during the honeymoon period. Just a lil tip. Of course there are some who cheated and didn't exercise and still made it to goal. My suggestion is to just do the best you can and you shall succeed!!! Good luck to you!!

I lost about a pound a day, I had lost 126 pounds by 7 months. I was REALLY lucky and my #'s compare to those of a man. But also remember I was on artifical nutrition and liquids for about 2 1/2 months due to complications.... IM Marie, she was told that she would lose 100 pounds and she never felt like she would reach that goal.... she though she may only lose like 95 pounds... but it happened for her. It will happen for EVERYBODY as long as you follow the rules. If you dont follow the rules, it can inhibit your loss.... I know you will follow the rules!

Oh girlfriend, I thought I would only lose maybe 80 lbs....but it's been 115 lbs lost.....I recall moaning about how long it seemed and I never thought I would get into the century club. Check out my post, "Happy Re-birthday to me" to see the numbers and "My post-op journey begins" to read the story of my progression.
