Default Food Question

I am curious to know if it will be possible to eat salads. Also is popcorn out of the question forever? I am 22 days post op and have already dropped and have already dropped 25 pounds...Yayyy!! Just thinking about some foods I will be able to add back once in a while...

Hi, my surgeon says that salad is ok after around 6 months but i would ask your surgeon what he recommends, as for popcorn ive heard some people still eat it but its not really any good to you so i would only have it once in a while.

Hope that helps.

I could have salad at I think 3 months. And popcorn is not on my plan but I tried it at 4 1/2 months and it wasn't as good as it had been before.

I was told I was allowed to have salad after one month. I eat popcorn too with no prob. But, due to how your surgeon stapled you, I'd ask him what time frame he recommends.

I'm 3 months out, and I started eating small salads about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Who'd think you would miss a healthy food like salad?

As for popcorn...I've been to the movies a couple of times since surgery, and probably ate about 1 1/2 cups each time. (When I was pre-op, I'd eat the whole bucket, and get a free refill!) Yes, I know it's bad for me, but fortunately, I don't go to the movies very often. Non-movie popcorn holds no appeal for me.

I'm 6 months out and I'm a Salad Whore. It's a new food for me, so I'm going overboard eating 2 a day now. Oink Oink!

My fav ...

Crisp Romaine hearts
Mixed beans (black, pinto & white)
Crumbled Cotija cheese
All tossed in super hot salsa instead of dressing
Topped with a few peanuts for the crunch factor

Crike, I think I'm hungry again!

I started eating salad and popcorn at about 6 months out. I enjoy both, but don't eat that much salad. Popcorn on the other hand is one of my favorite foods. I buy the 94% fat free butter kind (I think it's Orville Redenbacher) or the 100 calorie packs in butter or kettle corn and they are heavenly. I pop it when we go to the movies and hide it in my wife's purse. I tried the movie popcorn but the butter made me sick.

I was allowed veggies, including salad, at 6 weeks post-op. It hasn't caused any issues for me. I haven't tried popcorn yet but I'm sure I wouldn't have an issue with it (the only thing I can't eat is sugar).

I've been eating popcorn and salad without any problems at all since about 6 months out, maybe even sooner. I try not to eat popcorn that often though unless I've had at least some small portion of protein with it...otherwise I can mow through it and not even feel like the calories counted at all.
