Default Forum Poll

We have spent many hours these past few months trying to make the Thinner Times Forum easy to use, and appealing to a large demographic.

Please vote to help us get a better understanding of your opinion on the forum's categories/sections (for example: General Discussion, Pre-op, Post-op, Emotional Support, etc.).

Hi John,

I am surprised to find I miss the back and forth chit-chat of the group as a whole, and am too lazy to email everyone separatly. HI EVERYONE! (and do we have a spell check on this anywhere?)Maybe like some others mentioned, adding a chat room would replace that. Haven't quite settled in to the new format, and tend to read and go rather than post. There seem to be too many threads for anyone to be able to follow, although for sheer "get the info" research it seems very well organized.
the board is probably a better tool for people to get specific topic info on their particular topic. Seems very ...distant...unlike the group as it was. (although having an indiv picture is very nice to see as you are reading the post ).
I think I just need to set aside the time and get used to the new board.
...and are you and I the only ones with our names showing????

lets see if I can get Woody's tag he made for me to work...ummm, didn't work....

Default Chat forum!!!!

Hi John,
I'm with Woody, and Lynn, and Brenda and a few others, it would be SO nice to have a chat forum, sometimes there are several of us on here at once, and we could interact with each other, instead of just sending messages, it would be just a little more personal, sometimes that's kind of nice....

Thanks for all that you do anyway, we really appreciate you, AND your talents that you share with us on this board by putting it together for us....
Thank you John!!

Sandi

Thumbs down No change

Hi John,

I know you and your dad are insistant on this new forum and I only came on to vote because Sandi asked me to give it another try. But in seeing the results of the poll, I would expect you not to change anything.

My personal preference is to have the emailed post come to my personal email. Being that it doesn't, I will not be coming to this website. I visit other websites that do accommodate me & I'm not even one of their patients. Sad but this is how people are. Take care everyone because this is the only post you will see from me.

Angela, don't think for one minute that I am at a loss by not posting at this website. If ALL PATIENTS were taken into consideration this would not be happening.

I am quite content posting on msn & obesityhelp.com. I chat with hundreds of people and get replies from thousands. So I am far from a loss on this one. I still keep in touch with a few people from Dr. Callery's yahoo group. So I thank God that I did have the other resources or when Dr. Callery took away our choice I would have been in serious trouble.

I hope after you have your surgery, you don't find yourself in this same position that some of us found ourselves in. Good luck.

Thumbs up Live Chat Room!!!!

I like the forum, but would just love the oportunity to have live chats to get some answers to my questions in a quicker way. If you can do that I would just love that. I do go to Obesityhelp.com for my chats now, but would love to stay within our group of Callery/Potts patients...much more personal!

Dear Grayce,
Fortunately, the email feature has been a part of this forum from day one. There are instructions all over the site on how to subscribe for "email updates". Though you cannot actually reply to the email message, there is a link next to each post that conveniently brings you to a reply box so you don't have to search the site for the correct thread.

We don't expect everyone to be satisfied with the site - this comes with change - we can’t accommodate everyone. We simply don't have the time and resources to interview all of the thousands of patients to get their specific requirements and desires.

What I can tell you is that I’ve invested countless hours getting this system to work well for the Thinner Times patients as a whole; I feel that I have succeeded greatly with this as well. Please email me with any questions you have on how to use the site - because I believe it is capable of doing what you want it to do.

Sincerely,
John Callery

Grayce,
I also hope that when you voted up above, you did not vote based on your satisfaction for this Web site & forum, but rather for the poll's purpose - to see if the categories are good or not.
