I'M Home
Hey everyone,
well what can I say I am now home, after spending a week in the hospital an going through the mill and blowing every possible IV vein, I am now home. What happend was a slight set back, that caused me many tears, pain and a wek alone with just my nurses and hosp. staff. I thank God he was there for me and with me every step of the way.
Lets see this is what happend, Remember when I was having the pain in my leg and they put me on Ultracet? well that was a big mistake, I guess people don't realize that Ultracet has asprin in it and they prescrib it as a pain med that causes problems for them who can't have asprin. Thats when it all started, The Ultracet cause the little opening to my pouch to close off, there was no place for the liquids to go and there for I was also dehydrating. So when I went for my post-op check up they took one look at me and said "Your Staying, we are going to admit you and help you to get better" I was devastated, cause I knew I was doing everything to the T that I was to be doing and this came up!! Well while in the hospital I was stuck all the time and the poor nurses was at their wits ends not knowing what to do cause my veins blow so easily and they could just get it going and a hour or so it would be gone, then there was a few that made it over night or through the day. Even applying cold packs, warm packs ect.. to my veins to help them recover just so a line could be run, but to no avail just as soon as they got me hydrated, and a vein would blow by the next 24 hours I was once again dehydrated! I couldn't sip, drink or anything while we didn't know what the problem was. So for the first 2 days I was npo with only spounge soaks in water. I had a cat scan on Thursday and it turned ok good, so on Sat or Sun (can't remember drug induced days) I had an upper GI done and that Doc was a jerk, I even told my surgeon about him and he said he knew how he was it's a sad thing, The GI doctor was making me drink this stuff and I was having problems even getting it down, I was gagging and dryheving and he had his nerve to tell me "I don't know what you think you are doing you know there is nothing there to throw-up..... your stomack is empty nothing get it!" I was so upset and ready to burst into tears, I was sick of all the sticks and tests and being alone and then this idiot brings in his attitude, I just wasn't ready for that! Well getting that test done paid off as it showed the blockage and where the problem lies, so on Mon or Tues I went in for that procedure where he had to open the opening to my pouch. The difference it made. I was so hungry I actually made myself drink broth ( gag) but it was worth it. By Wednesday I was on puree foods and depending on how I held my breakfast and lunch I got to go home that day.... I was released last night at 8pm, talk about exhausted and worn out!!!!! my arms and veins are very tender to the touch, and even still kind of hard in places as if they are still infiltrated, but I know this tooo shall pass. There wasn't a day that went by that i hadn't thought of you all, and my family and friends. I did a lot of sleeping and maybe walk a couple laps, but I was so week on the feet, that I didn't get a lot of that in. I guess i must of really looked bad cause one of the elderly (80's) women on the floor asked me while I was walking ... oh honey you ok? It made me smile, as I felt her compassion so real!

Welcome Home
Hey Sue.. glad to see you online again. I must say you went through a lot. But I am glad to see you made it home and you are doing a little better. You make sure you take it easy. I hope you feeling better today. So how much have you dropped? You need to give us that surgeons name too so we all can complain on his unprofessional bed side manner. Huggs.

OMGOSH! I am so sorry you had to go through all of that! I have been praying for you. Did the asprin in the medication cause the blockage?

I couldn't believe all the trouble you have gone through. I hope you are feeling better real soon. I think I would have cried if someone made me drink something I couldn't digest. He must not have read all of your chart and know that you had GB. I wish you well.
Good to have you back. We were all worried.
