Question question about optic nerve and wls

I have this friend whos wife is trying to do wls. well she has gone in to see her pcp and he told her this. I dont understand how a doctor can say that she shouldn't do wls cuz of this problem. I think he is just agesnt the surgery and is trying to make her change her mind.

here is his question:

My wife has been told to delay WLS surgery because of pressure on her optic nerve. This pressure, though, is being caused by her obesity, according to her physician. Isn't it defeating the purpose to withold the very surgery that could eliminate the optic nerve strain?"

I would definitely get a second opinion. Definitely!

It never hurts to get a second opinion. There are a lot of primary docs out there who are just totally against wls. Then again there may be something else to it medically.
