Exclamation Update and ETNA tip!

Just a quick little update. My appointment with Dr D went very well. And she did tell me something I thought I'd share. Apparently if you have ETNA which I do not, they have changed their requirements. She had two patients who were nearly done with everything and at the last moment, they BOTH were denied. ETNA now wants you to have been on an 800 calorie diet! So these poor girls now have to wait longer. So if that is your insurance provider you might want to talk to your PCP about putting you on one. I told Dr D to put me on one anyway. I'm not going to get shut out at the last minute! And though I'm not going to actually use the diet, I will at least show a small weight loss by next appointment. Colon cleanse and Dr Atkins here I come!! MMMMMM Bacon! *snort* Just a thought.... 800 calorie diet? Are these people insane?? If we could manage an 800 calorie diet... we wouldn't need WLS! DUH!

One other thing I forgot to mention.... Even though I haven't even had my actual referral to Dr C, Dr D has had all the tests I will need done during this six month wait. So when I finally do get the referral I shouldn't have to have much other things done. It was a great idea she had! She is also doing my pych consult herself! She already knows I'm nuts She said all they should have to do after the referal is a few simple blood tests. God Bless Dr D!

Yeah Aetna... I don't know how to spell it! I would think PPO's would be a little easier. I know that when I had a PPO, the first time I was approved for surgery it was pretty easy. But I had to pay 10%. Just maybe mention it to your PCP. Good luck doll!

Three little words of advice for the unfortunate soul with ETNA....

Get a Lawyer!

One of the ladies I work with had wls 2 yrs ago and when our quote "insurance" demanded she be on a 1 year medically managed weight-loss plan.....She hired a lawyer.

It turned out that it was NOT the insurance's requirement but one that was being implemented by her PCP group Beaver Medical.

She had her surgery WITHOUT having to play the diet game.

Today she is a normal sized, beautiful and vibrant woman.
