Where are my June 2008 Staplers?
Hey guys! I thought I would start this thread for all of us June people, so we can share are experiences. So hopefully we can keep up with each others success and progress. I really hope we can keep up this thread, because seeing others experiences is definitely very encouraging!
So I guess I'll start off with what's going on with me so far! I had the Lap RNY on June 26th! I already feel this is one of the best things I could have done for myself! I have no pain, in fact after the first night I didn't even use the pain meds. The gas was TERRIBLE!! But things have gotten better over the past 5 days. I had my first protien shake today no problem whatsoever! I am so grateful to God for this second opportunity at life! I never thought it would happen to me!
Well, let me stop rambling, but one more quick thing, let me tell you what my dgt said after I came home. She looked at me and said ( she's 6 yrs old), " mommy, you had the surgery... but your not skinny yet! Oh well, i'll love you whether your skinny or larger!"
Kids say the darndest things! I can't wait until she can't remember when I was "larger"!
Alright ya'll so here we go I started it, please keep it up!
Until later,
D

Hey D-I am a June 4th Lap RNY and have been doing great. Surgery was fine but found out I can not metabolize most pain meds so I couldn't have any, but did fine without. Could not get the gas out soon enough So far I am down 40 lbs but I know that will slow with time. No kids but 1 dog who is freaking out over how much exercise I am giving her these days Glad you are doing well and having such a great outlook and recovery-Junies Unite

I'm a fellow Junie! I had my Lap RNY on June 23rd, and I'm also feeling great! I'm down about 15lbs (time to change the ticker). I go today at 8:15am for my 1 week check up and to remove my staples. Then he will progress me to soft foods! Woohoo! I can't wait for some egg salad and refried beens w/ lowfat cheddar! LOL
But, I have to make a confession to my Month "pod" mates. I haven't been able to drink any protein shake. They all are so gross. Even the one I could tolerate pre-op tastes nasty to me now. What are you all using?
PS. I love this thread idea!
PSS. Here are some graphics to brighten up our thread!

Well I was "done "on 2oth June here in Ireland and am doing great also-aren't we all blessed to have had no complications??It was much better than I had visualised and except for horrible runs from the Gastrograffin that they give you for the swallow test,I hardly used the pain meds either.
Home was a different thing alltogether-we were getting solar panels installed the week prior to my surgery.OK.However as always one thing led to another and I came home to every door open the house FILTHY(I had left it spotless and tidy)radiators off in every room and 2(very nice)men in and out with Kango hammers. They were here for the first week of my recovery and I nearly went bats with the stained carpets and the dust everywhere(men NEVER close doors)However, in a funny way, it actually took my mind off myself and passed the time!!My visitors were horrified though and kept offering to help clean up. In the end when they finished I got 2 cleaners in and they spent 5 hours spring/summer cleaning!!!best thing ever!!!
I lost21 lbs since pre-op and NOTHING since-very frustrating but trying not to panic.seeing nutritionist tmorro. Not drinking HALF the water that I should and got nasty reaction to protein powder so a bit worried about lack of protein.Dying for some mashed potato!!taste has really altered and cant take any artificially sweetened yogurt,in fact am eating Goats yogurt as its the bitterest!!!
Did 2 walks and unfortunately my arthritis flared so have to give that a rest for the moment til I shed another bit of belly(if only it was the belly,it has come off my face, shoulders and FEET(how bizarre is that?)
It would be great to keep up the contact.
Upwards and onwards!!
Sue

Hi to my June podmates! Things are going well here! I'm glad so many of us have had good experiences!
I tried all kinds of protein shakes. I finally found one I could tolerate. I do the Unjury Unflavored and mix it with water and a Crystal Lite flavor. Good luck with finding one that words for you.
You MUST work on protein intake, honey. Protein..protein...protein!

I also found the unjury protein very good. I love the chocolate, chicken soup and the unflavored. They have a sample pack for about 12.00 including shipping, and it will get you a packet of all 5 flavors to sample. Unjury.com. Good luck with that, you need your protein!!!

Wow, if I had workers here doing my recovery I woulda been pissed! LOL And I know how you feel about mashed potatoes. I just love them and my NUT told me not to eat them. BUT...at the hospital the dietitian gave me a good idea (which I haven't tried yet). She said make them into "good" mashed potatoes by adding some unflavored protein powder. I will try it, but a little skeptical. LOL

Thank you both! I have the unjury, I just haven't tried it yet. I bought the choc, van, unflavored, and chicken samples. I don't like "fake" strawberry so I didn't get that kind. I'll try it soon and give you an update!

Oh my gooooodness!!
OMG!! Ya'll I actually feel normal today ! I woke up, had some milk( no problems!) I then mixed some milk with protien shake, and once again everything went down great! My grandma made me some peanut butter soup( more protien ) with tilapia in it, it was great! I took a nap, then took my dgt outside, for a loooong walk! And I wasn't tired! Yeah me!
I am so happy I did this for myself! I barely feel my digestion anymore! Ya'll I am sooooo excited!
Well let me stop rumbling. So how are you all doing and feeling?

Great! I'm starting to feel normal again too. My blood clot is starting to disappear, and I'm eating "normal" foods (eggs, chicken, fish, etc.-no red meat yet). And the pounds are dropping off!
