Nicole, I am glad your clot has cleared up, and I'm glad you feel normal! isn't this experience awesome!
Wow! You are already on real food?! I'm still on full liquids for another week, plus a week of mushies before I can try "real food"! If you don't mind could you tell me how your post op diet goes? Cause I basically don't eat solids for a month! Thank God I'm not hungry, and I have my pudding! Lol!
Thanks in advance!

No prob, here you go! My Post-Op Menu from Nut.

PS. My surgeon doesn't believe in the mushy stage. Don't know why. If he found out I ate some baby food pears he'd probably freak! LOL

Hi all, I had my surgery June 7 and have done very well. Feeling good and have energy. The only problem is.. well not so much a problem as a disappointment is I haven't lost anything for about 2 weeks. I have lost 19 lbs since surgery and 10 before that. I know it will happen but one has such high hopes. A friend of mine had surg 5 days before me and has lost 50 lbs! A man of course I am able to tolerate most foods that are on my list except beef, I tried for the first time today and I won't do that again for a while. This is the best thing I have ever done and am looking forward to the journey.

Hey ya'll! How are you guys feeling? I must admit I'm feeling great lately! That had me worried, I asked my friend I said are you sure they did this surgery? What if they didn't and it doesn't work?! She assured me they definitely did the surgery, since she was there!LOL!
I feel pretty much normal! I went dancing this weekend, and got a real work out! Did you guys know sweat can actually drip from your knees? LOL! It flabergasted me when I saw it!
I'm still on a full liquid diet, but feel fine! I'm surprisingly never hungry! I did forget to eat on sunday though, and my stomach actually growled! Which really amused my dgt! Well I just wanted to keep my Junie's update, and hear back about you all's progress!
Until later,
Smooches!

Hi everyone, I also had my lap bypass done in June. Actually June 4th. I feel great and have been lucky where I have been able to tolerate anything I eat. Pretty much the only thing I havent tried yet is pork. I am down about 45 lbs and cant wait to loose more.

Hi everyone. My surgery was 6/9. I had major issues with the pain meds in the hospital (nausea, dizziness) but otherwise did ok. No gas after about 12 hours. Two weeks post-op it became clear the painful lump I had on my left side was an infection. Sigh. It had to be opened up and has been open for TWO WEEKS. I am so sick of visiting nurses!

So far I am highly food tolerant. I haven't thrown up once. I'm on soft and mushies but have had lots of things to eat (very well chewed). I can handle anything fish, lobster (2 claws only), steamed clams (didn't eat the neck, couldn't chew it enough), turkey chili, chicken white meat. I haven't tried steak or pork and won't for quite awhile. It seems like the trick, for me at least, is that if it can be chewed to blender consistency I don't have an issue (hence the no clam necks!). For veggies and I am only supposed to have mashed potato, sweet potato and winter squash, but I eat the veggies in chili without issue. I eat almost no sugar since I had an early dumping experience with Liquid Tylenol, so I'm extra cautious. I haven't had issues getting protein at all. I have Isopure maybe every other day. I do struggle with the water, hovering closer to 50 oz rather than 60. I am so used to my old habut of drinking down 16 oz. in 2 minutes. Now it takes me hours to drink that much.

I am having issues with nausea and dizziness when I exert myself at all, which is frustrating. I've lost 28 pounds since I got home from the hospital, but I estimate my real weight loss (subtracting fluid given in hospital) is more like 23 pounds, maybe as low as 20. I'm not happy about it. I only lost 3 pounds last week and haven't lost anything in 5 days.

I know the weight will come off. My only real concern (well, other than extra skin, and all that) is the nausea and dizziness on exertion.

Like some others have mentioned,I have an issue with fuzzy vision/slight dizziness on exertion. My dietician says its either low protein or not enough water-have stepped up both and def see an improvement-Its just i forget to drink...so hard to keep it going all day.
Had some scallops today-yummy!havent had any food issues at all(except refusing a slice of lemon cheesecake at best friends party!)feel very blessed.

Hello everyone!!!

I had my surgery on June 30th and the doctor said everything went very well (I mention this because I was in so much pain he could've fooled me). I ended up staying in the hospital for a couple of days since the pain meds (morphine for after surgery and Hydrocodine for home) they gave me made me sick.

I understand why the first week is hell week. I had gas pains for days and I never thought it would go away. I will have to say I'm very lucky to have a husband that waited on me hand and foot for the first two weeks after the surgery. I'm also not sure how he put up with my constant releasing of gas, but he did

During the first 2 weeks I lost about 20 lbs, but it looks like I've reached that wonderful 3 week stall I've read so much about. I'm getting in all of my protein and water, so I'm going to try working out this week to see if that can jump start my weightloss.
