for me hands down was Syntrax Nectar ( Buy Discount Vitamins, Supplements, Low Carb and More at www.Vitacost.com) my favorite is the strawberry kiwi, but i like the fuzzy navel as well. Its just like juice and mixes easily with water

I don't care for any of the nectars, etc. Every morning I make one of the following protein shakes -- total grams protein about 40.
6 ounces V-8 Spicy Hot
2 scoops Any Whey protein powder (it's unflavored)
Put in shaker cup and shake well.
OR
6 ounces milk
1 packet SF vanilla Carnation Instant Breakfast
2 scoops Any Whey protein powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Ice cubes (optional)
Put in shaker cup or Magic Bullet and shake/blend well.
This tastes like an Orange Julius.
Good luck!

That V-8 recipe sounds interesting! V-8's on my shopping list now.... thanks.
I'm doing Orange Julius's too -- but I've been getting sick of the same old thing lately so I'm experimenting with fruit. I make 16oz at a time for 24g of protein sipping power as well as my water supply.
DET... for me it's not the protein brand, it's what I do with it. Checkout the nutrition section for pages and pages of protein shake recipes.

Hi There!
I find this protien shake thing very interesting.
Here in the Uk from my experience. we have not been given any advice on taking these drinks or shakes that you lot speak about. I've been interested in what you've all had to say.
I have just found quite a debate on these shakes. I have included the link below.

The thing about it is that in the beginning stages of WLS, it's difficult to get the recommended amount of protein in every day through food alone.
Eventually, at whatever stage your doc or NUT recommends, you will be getting most of your protein from food, supplementing with whey protein only occasionally.
I'm not interested in losing hair, or muscle... I'm shaking the protein into a lather and drinkin' it baby!

I Wish I Could Get Protein Down The Only Kind I Can Even Somewhat Bare Is Carnation Instant..and Adding Some Skim Milk Powder To It..i've Tried Numerous Protein Drinks And They All Make Me Nauseas..my Doc Said Dont Worry To Much About Protein This Soon Its Just More About Liquids...when I Get To The Next Eating Stage Is When I Should Try To Get More In Which Should Be Easier When I Can Have Tuna, Chicken Eggs And All Those Protein Filled Foods...

I like to get my favorite fruit, Bananas, Strawberries and Peaches, with some Milk and Whey Protein powder and blend it in a smoothie maker.
The other option is milk with the Whey Protein powder and a little Ovaltine Chocolate powder in it.
Both of these give me a good alternative to getting some extra protein.

Peaches... haven't tried that yet. Sounds good.
I need a new chocolate besides Carnation Instant Breakfast... Ovaltine... does it have that powdery taste like CIB does? I've seen the commercials, but have never tried it.
-------------------------------------------
Protein is essential for—
ˇ Muscle building and repair
ˇ Structure of red blood cells
ˇ Proper functioning of immune defense
ˇ Regulation of enzymes and hormones
ˇ Aids in wound healing, recovery time and decreased risk of infection
ˇ Prevention of or decrease hair loss
I wouldn't go too long without it.
My doc and NUT stressed protein intake to it's utmost for maximum healing. Hydration was of equal importance, as were vitamins.
I know it's hard the first two weeks, or so, because you have to remind yourself to take in nourishment. Remember protein shakes are liquid and are counted as a part of your hydration. Don't drink a liquid unless it's fortified with something: carnation instant breakfast, protein powder, liquid protein. Liquid is also yogurt, cottage cheese, milk, and soup, and the like. Even a fudgcicle is considered liquid and has 2 grams of protein.
I agree with following what your doctor recommends, but I'm going along with the general consensus that puts a highest priority on protein.

I admit, when I started drinking them, I hated them. Now that I have figured out how much water to add, It actually taists great. (8oz to 10oz only) The more water you add to it, makes it taist like wattery chalk. I drink the Optifast 800 right now. It's the only one I have tried so far. That's the one my doctor gave me for my pre-opt liquid diet.
Hang in there, you'll find one you really like.
