Default NERVES & heart flutterings pre-op???

I have had a really hard week emotionally seeing my elderly Mum who I am not telling about the op(WHICH IS NEXT FRIDAY!!) I came home feeling drained and full of negative thoughts.

OK. So I got it together again (with the help of some solid friends and DH) and have been pretty calm for the past 2 days but since Thursday have been getting this feeling like my heart is being squeezed. It passes really quickly and could not be classed as a pain but I am aware its happening.

I did have an ECG pre-op and it was so good they decided not to bother with a stress test. I am really loath to go to the ER as I would be there all day and I know in my heart that its stress but I wonder has anyone experienced the same??

I really have found the past week hard, partly because of the enormity of the decision and partly because I am keeping it confidential and that in itself is making me feel a bit of a hypocrite. I think the pre-op diet is making me a bit shaky also.

ANYBODY HAD SIMILAR FEELINGS? I am really working hard to keep the stressful/negative emotions at bay but obviously me ol' body ain't fooled!!

Good Morning!

Are you feeling any better yet? I'm not a doctor and I would say if it were to get any worse or it dosen't pass to definately get your hind end to the hospital, BUT, IMO it sounds like anxiety/panic attacks. Keep us posted and good luck on Friday!

Angry Poor You

Hi Suemaca,

Yes i do think that you are experiencing pre-op nerves, but to be on the safe side you best get yourself checked out as your heart is not to be messed with!!!
All it will take is a quick ECG and BP check and atleast your mind will be put at rest.
Good Luck

Lots of luv

Pre-op jitters are normal... be sure to have yourself checked out tho... your Primary Care physician or your surgeon should be consulted. I'm thinking of you and sending calming vibes from the middle of the USA!

Smile Thanks to you all!

Feeling much calmer now and fluttering has stopped since yesterday, thank goodness.
Told my 29 and 27 year old boys and my daughter-in-law.They were so loving and kind and supportive that I was quite overwhelmed.Am glad now that I told them as I think they would have been quite hurt if I didn't.
I think I have come the full circle now and all that panicy feeling was all part of the process of coming to terms with it all.
Your sympathy and advice all contributed to calming me down so thank you-think of me on Friday!!
