Help! I need someone to understand!
Hello Everyone!
I am 3 1/2 years post op, and have lost 130 lbs. Unfortunatly, I have gained about 15 lbs back. I seem to have a hard time with not eating. Right now, my pouch is sore, because I have ate a little too much. It's always a little too much, and I don't know how to stop it. Today is day one of no pepsi. I was drinking one a day, then it went to two a day, then three. I just can't seem to do anything in moderation. I am so upset with myself. My husband and co-workers don't think I need to lose any more weight, but I need to for myself. I know in my head that I have done really good, but in my heart I am a failure. I didn't even know I really felt like this until I started typing this post. Hmmm...wonder what that says about me.

Cindy,
My head and heart don't always agree. It is a constant struggle with self doubt. YOU ARE 3 years out. Look at what you have done. I see you as a hero. Keep on keeping on.

Sounds like you just need to regain your focus. How about the 5-day pouch test to get back in stride? You've done a great job, don't let a few pounds ruin it for you.

Thanks for the input, and for listening to me. Could you give me the information (or where to get it) about the 5-day pouch test? I'm new here, and don't know my way around yet.
Thanks!
Cindy

I agree, I was going to suggest that as well, but rapport already did. There was a bunch of us that did it a while ago. There are lots of threads about it too.
By the way, welcome to the forum, glad you're here. You've come to the right place for this kind of support that you need right now. We're here when you need us!

I totally know what you are feeling. I dont drink pop, only because of the whore stories I have heard with my support group (the expansion of pouch with carbonation) I have 3 friends re-do their pouch bec of carbonation
OK so everyone tells me I DONT need to loose any more weight, but its NOT about them, its about YOU. I feel like my whole life has been about others and how they feel around me, WELL now its about US. SO... put them behind you, and focus on what else you are eating. Try to do a no carb or low carb for a few days, only do water and crystal light. I LIVE ON the adkins advantage blueberry bars (they have a ton, I just love these) I could live on a island with these bars and my crystal light forever!
I honestly dont work out, have a low count on iron so they say not to, still loose weight all dependent on how I eat.
Try just to list what you are eating, time of day (try not to eat a few hrs before bed), drinks etc etc see what little thing you can cut back on.
I KNOW I KNOW how hard to just turn the light off and change your whole pattern, SO take it slow this week 1 thing change, next week another, and BAMMMM you hit your goal!
YOU CAN DO IT, I look forward to your posts and weight GOAL for YOU!

I know how the feeling of one pound goes to 5 to 10 to 15 and next it is 30.
If moderation is not in your play book....then CUT OUT THE SODA. three cans is like 600 calories x 7 days a week. That is 1 1/4 pounds gained per week. Find a new vice...tea, coffee, etc. May not be perfect, but the lesser of two evils.
Whatever are the reasons the gain happened...nip it in the bud. Regroup, go back to basics. Everyday won't be perfect, but you will be back on track.
This is a lifelong process. We don't lose the weight and then we are done!!!
You can do this. Don't beat yourself up, just be honest and not in denial. Log you foods down.

I haven't been to the far side yet... I guess if I were in your shoes, I would begin writing down exactly what my intake is, calories and all (because that's what I do now). The 5-day pouch test is probably the best advice of all - to get back to basics.
AND the best thing you did is come and talk about it. Just by doing that, you'll nip half of your gain during the test.
AND, you've already helped me to remember my focus.
Thank you and the best to you!
