You aren't filled enough. Someone with a 10cc band needs around 7cc, possibly 8 cc's of saline. You need to go and have him put 1.5 cc in. Then do liquids for 2 days. Then after that, don't eat slider foods. Eat small amounts like one piece of brown bread with a piece of turkey on it.. chew good, eat slow, and try to eat all that. Don't drink anything for a few hours. That half sandwhich should last you about 3 hours. Then you can drink some water that will last you another 1.5 hours. Then repeat the process for lunch. Then for dinner, have some lean meat, and a vegetable. You can do this. You just need to follow the rules and get enough restriction. You obviously don't have it and I can pretty much guarantee you that you're drinking with your meals. Stop it. That's the #1 no no.

In reading your posts I have concerns if RNY is right for you. It sounds like you are not ready to make a change in what you eat. You need to do that no matter which operation you have. If you think having RNY is a magic bullet....it isn't. You may lose more weight, but if you don't make those necessary changes, you will gain it back, just like you did with the band except which much more risk involved with the surgery.

ARe you willing to commit to the vitamin regimen required or you will have long term neurological complications, anemia, etc.

Don't think the surgery will do all the work for you. You need to do it yourself!!!

I am not saying don't do it, I am saying go into it with your eyes wide open and ignorance is not excuse. If you don't like the sensation of food getting stuck...well there is no band to withdraw fluid from...it is stuck for real with this surgery. You need to be willing to not eat the foods that give you that sensation

i agree with everyone on here but i have to say i feel rny probably is for you..i just had it done 1 week and one day ago...i have craved pizza and chineese food like crazy but can't eat it and know and feel that..if i had th elap band i probably would...i have to say i think that if most of us could avoid pizza and other bad things we may not be in a position to need rny anyways...i feel rny is a tool to help you learn in the future..and of course you figure out after all the bs you gotta go through with it why mess it up..i think over time you learn to do the right things, you learn to appreciate food and not just the "good" food..i think this surgery would be great for you, i was just talking with a friend the other day because i had thought about the band, and i told her i know i wouldnt have succeeded with it because i to would eat pizza...i feel you should talk to your doctor about rny..its not easy but its a stronger tool than the band..good luck and i hope everything works out!

Everyone is correct, I need to get onboard with this and stick to it. The emotional eating just plain sucks!! I just made an appointment to go see my doctor tomorrow. I feel a little apprehensive to go and see him because I have failed at this and I don't want him to give me a lecture and make me feel even worse than I already do.

It'll be okay. It's much worse in your mind than it will be in reality. He'll just tell you to get back on track and give you a fill and you'll really have to stick with it. Keep coming here and we'll give you the hugs and pushes you need

Berry, dont care what he says to you, just listen and agree, then its over with.

Tell him you want to be filled so you can only eat tiny amounts, dont be scared of everything getting stuck, because i think thats what is supposed to happen.

The time to worry is when you cant swallow your own saliva, then you're in big trouble and will need an adjustment, but otherwise, if liquids go down, whats there to be scared of, it wont last forever and the weight will drop off.

Go girl and good luck

Jerseygirl is only trying to get the point over Berry, she just gets so frustrated with us doesnt she

Whilst I was writing my reply a few more replied, I just wanted to say to Berry...hunny you have the tool there inside you!!!!

make it work for you, dont go through more life-threatening surgery just because you've heard GB is better.

my daughter has lost 7 stone with her band, and she looks fab!!!

Oh and Dezarea, the bread and turkey thing..neither my daughter nor myself could eat those things, she still cant but because of my leak I can eat anything.

Bread when chewed, is like turkey and chicken it goes into a doughy ball and wont fit through the pouch to your big tummy, therefore you could develop another pouch, which requires surgery to remove it.

I am sorry you are having trouble with the band. You really need a fill, as of right now its doing nothing for you, because there isnt enough saline in it to do anything. The first few fills with a 10cc band are big ones. (At least that is what I have read) Like 2cc each. Then after that most Drs like to do a little at a time. Its really hard to control your hunger and eating if you arent getting any help.

now as far as eating with the band I eat 3 meals a day. I do have a snack in the evening that is normally SF popcicle, SF pudding, or once in a while a slurge of popcorn, FF normally 100cal packs) For breakfast I eat cereal, or eggs, or oatmeal. Lunch salads, tuna and crackers, 1/2 a sandwich (roll ups, not bread). Dinner is meat of some sort, veggies, then if I have room a carb. I can eat in the am and I have good restriction.

YOU DO NOT WANT TO STAY TO TIGHT OR YOU COULD DAMAGE YOUR STOMACH...lIQUIDS ONLY IS NOT THE WAY TO GO!!!! YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO EAT, JUST MUCH SMALLER AMOUNTS!!!! YOU SHOULD NOT GET STUCK~~ You should feel full fast not a hurt stuck feeling...

Sorry for "yelling" but I wanted to get that out there.

And you have not failed your Dr should be nothing but supportive, bacause without a fill everything you have done (even maintaining) is all you! So I would make sure if he starts by saying something negative by reminding him of that!!!

As far as pizza use it as a slurge, not a reg thing. I have eaten pizza since I have been banded, I dont make it a reg thing. Its a treat. We are having pizza tomorrow and it will one peice (if I am lucky, most likely the topping only) DD b-day and she got to pick her meal of choice! I will eat salad though...

Its not easy but you can do it! No matter what surgery to get your food choices have to change...

Good Luck

Was that a dig at me Val? I am just repeating what I have read on WLSinfo, the bandsters on there hardly eat at all, go read some of the posts.

Personally i couldnt eat the things you eat Val, once i tried pizza after an 8hour flight and I actually vomited, not PB'd...and have never eaten it since, because of the damage you can do to your stomach if you do vomit when you have a band.

Some bandsters have to live on liquid only diets for at least 6 weeks after surgery, so what harm would it do if this was your diet after a good fill?

None...and you would see a drastic weight loss to spur you on, and also what about those new protien diets where you only drink 3 shakes a day?

I'm sorry Val, but you misunderstand me, I didnt mean staying on liquids indefinetly, just long enough to give you a good start, and by then your band will have loosened anyway.
