Things are getting more expensive. Hospital rooms and gas.

I've unfortunately had to be in the hospital several times in the last year or so. First time, had a roommate who was in a lot of pain and kept moaning loudly and complaining to the nurses. I couldn't be mad at her for her pain, of course, but it wasn't restful, that's for sure! I asked to be let home earlier than they wanted me to partially because of that. Second time, was in a room with no roommate. For my bariatric surgery, my surgeon always gives private rooms -- heaven! Was very dark and quiet, even with nurses in and out to do checks, give meds, etc. I hope you get what you need, but please try not to worry. Hospitals are never fun, and something you have to endure, but try to keep your eye on the end goal. Good luck!

Sleep? In a hospital??!! You MUST be dreaming

Truely I don't mean to sound mean (depraved and obnoxious yes, but not mean)!

I was pestered so much in the hospital I couldn't sleep if I wanted to. I did, by accident fall asleep for a while (on my side, back to the door), but then a nurse came in and simply started pulling my shorts down to give me a B-12 shot. We both had a most unpleasant experience. I mean, your already in an unfamiliar area, your in pain, and you have so many damn wires attached to you, then someone sneaks in and starts to pull your clothes off.

If you want a private room, I do wish you luck if it will help you. Here are some of my ideas to ensure you get one -

- Say to them "Do you know who I AM?
- Tell them your cousin is Lindsay Lohan
- Throw a fit and tell them your calling your half-sister Angelina
- Tell them your father is Salvatore Lo Piccolo (arrested mafia boss)
- Tell them your father is the head of the IRS
- Threaten them you'll call Za Za Gabor ( "legendary actress" who slapped the Beverly Hills cop for pulling her over)

If all these fail, try crying!

good luck!

The thing I hated most about my hospital stay was the food they gave me. I had high-protein lactaid milk with Vanilla Carnation Instant Breakfast (CIB). I thought it tasted like cake icing (the extra nauseating sweet kind)... and I just couldn't drink it.

So my food intake consisted of very little CIB and the watered down juice (apple & cranberry) I was allowed to have and Jello.

I think that's why my doc asked me if I wanted to go home 2 days early (even though I had an open RNY)... because he felt I'd do better at home, and at least, eat at home.

When he asked, I perked up. Because not only was the food intolerable, so were the beds. But that's probably because I developed a butt-ache problem in recent months and the bed was very difficult to take, even under morphine! I spent day 2 lying on a water heated heating pad.

Rest in a hospital... no such thing. I kept wanting to nap, they kept wanting me to walk!

Day 188: Century Club - 100 lbs down
Day 366: 1 Year - 146 lbs down
Day 396: One-derland - 153 lbs gone forever! (my pic progression)

Starting BMI: 60.4 / Current BMI: 33.6

Nearly 16 TEN pound bowling balls down... OMG, let me pinch myself!

I don't want to know how much I have left to lose -- I find it encouraging to see how far I've come!
