Wide Shoes & Vitamins
hi everyone!
We are coming to Florida for 2 weeks on Wednesday-our shopping will be limited as we are staying in the Keys BUT will be calling to a Mall on the way down where there is a GNC. Vitamins are SOOO expensive over here in Ireland I was going to stock up on the vitamins needed post op(as I wont be buying too many clothes this time!)and I wondered can anyone advise some good supplements from either GNC,walmart or Kmart.
ALSO......am looking for WIDE shoes-can anyone help me out here? last time I ended up looking in every store (husband was wilting in the car.)before i finally found Easyspirit shoes in Macys, I think.
But Footlocker,Payless,DSW,579,Charlotte Russe,Giro's.Finishline,Traffic-any of these stock wider shoes?
I would be glad of any hints-thanks
Sue

I know the payless stores here sells wide widths. Not sure of where else since I am on the narrow side myself.

I'm from Miami, Florida. I am about 2 months post op and I've been taking Gummies for vitamins. I buy the large 180 Disney Princess gummy bottle at Target. It's great. Only thing is that you have to take 2 doses per day. I buy sublingual b-complex at Walgreens (cheaper then GNC) and for calcuim I just hit Target, Walgreens and CVS for Caltrate chewable tablets. That has worked extremely well for me and I feel like I eat Candy everyday because they taste so good! There's a Target on U.S. 1 on the way to the Keys and the entire state of Florida is littered with CVS and Walgreens. Are you flying into MIA?
If you're looking for wide shoes, hit Avenue (there's one in Miami, off of Coral Way and 87th Avenue) Sometimes Lane Bryant has wide shoes. Avenue has a better selection, though, small but better. I would say it's better then Payless. I do love payless quite a bit. Another great place is Rack Room Shoes and I have seen wide shoes at DSW but they don't tend to fit my feet too well. I buy all my shoes online at either jessicalondon.com, onestopplus.com or footsmart.com. They have a gorgeous selection in wide and extra wide shoes. It's pricey but I they are good long lasting shoes. When I discovered them, I started wearing sandals again...JOY!...a must in Florida!

Vitacost.com and Puritans pride.com should help with the vitamin issue. Get a good multivitamin at the very least.A good fiber supplement(and maybe antioxidant vitamin, oh yeah omega 3 fatty acids ) Secondly you have to ask wherever you go for the wide widths. They usually come in (D) normal (EE) wide (EEEE) extra wide I have swelling because of diabetes and congestive heart failure:so i look for wider shoes.May you have a blessed stay in the states.(i am part Irish )

According to my Nut, children's chewables don't have everything we need as GBP patients, even when you double up on the dose.. and caltrate is calcium carbonate which our bodies no longer absorb properly.. we need calcium citrate.
I use Optisource Multi-vitamin for Gastric Bypass Patients, which I buy at my local Walgreens drug store... and I take a chewable calcium citrate from Vitalady.com.. the chocolate "lozenges".. (tablets, really)

Every doctor and nutritionist are different. I have always taken gummies for vitamins because I have an allergy that prevents me from taking regular vitamins. I've felt fabulous since my surgery but, as I said, I'm ony 2 month out. Of course, always refer to your health care provider and nutritionist for clues as to what you should take post op.

I can recommend vitalady.com - she has a good range of chewables for early out and tablets.
Good old Walmart is always worth investigating.
