Well I realized that the orangutan that I visited at the Honolulu Zoo in January is the same weight as I was pre-op! Well one pound difference, but who is counting.

We weighed the same, however 1 foot difference in height. OMG, I weighed the same as an Orangutan.

If that doesn't spell it out for me, then nothing does!

OMG, Lisa! That had to be a real eye-opener! Good thing you didn't go to the zoo and see him pre-op. That would have been depressing!

(But, come to think of it, we've probably all had experiences seeing people or things our same size while we were still big and that may have encouraged us to have the surgery. For me, I saw a picture of ME at 245 lbs and decided that was it... I HAD to do something. I was completely miserable and I looked it, but I had to see the picture to realize it.)

Hey Lisa,

Congrats on your loss! It is amazing what it takes to put it all into the right perspective.

I'm curious though, it looks like your pic is at the Woodland Park Zoo, which is here in Seattle. I noticed you said Honolulu, but the sign says Woodland Park. I only notice cause I like in Seattle and have not been to the zoo in ages. It looks like fun, so it got me to thinking about going there

If it was Woodland, how was it? As I said,I haven't been in ages, but heard they had revamped it.
