Default Pouch Test

Thanks for "catching my eye" with your comment! That was funny.
I am out 4 1/2 years. Things have gone so well for me. I lost 110 pounds and have gained 7. I want to "tighten" that pouch again. I am going to that site...
Thanks for the recipes. I am going to try those as well.

No biggie...I had the same thoughts about substituting a soup of my own ,but then I read the whole "just do it the way it's written" thing and decided to just submit. LOL.

I just started the 5 day Pouch Test. It's almost 11am and I've been up since 8am. So far I'm happy with my protein drink and coffee. I'm so excited to think I can turn this engine back around!! Oh, thanks for the soup recipe. I've already made my shopping list and might just have that for dinner! It is ok for the liquid part of the plan, right?

As I read the plan, the soup is for the liquid portion, yes. And I did it on my first time through and am now working on my second. Welcome to the site and good luck with your turnaround!

If you don't have a crock pot, you can just make it on top of the stove instead. If you don't like spicy foods, leave out the can of chile peppers. For this 5 day test, I'd probably leave out the corn as well, since it has 'bad' carbs. This freezes very well, if you want to double the recipe.

Crockpot Taco Soup
INGREDIENTS:
1 pound lean ground beef (or ground turkey)
1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans
1 can (11 to 15 ounces) whole kernel corn, drained
1 10 oz can Rotel tomatoes (look in the Mexican food aisle)
1 envelope taco seasoning
1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes
1 sm can chopped chile peppers (4 ounces)
1 can (15 ounces) pinto beans
1 envelope Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing
PREPARATION:
Brown the ground beef; drain well. Add remaining ingredients and stir. simmer in slow cooker on LOW for 6 to 8 hours.
The weird thing is.....they allow the foods in their tried and true soups, but seem to frown on us "experimenting" and toying with what works. I don't know, I see their point.....we are always trying to find a way around the rules. But then again, their rules don't have a real reasoning sometimes. They say ground beef on day 4...but the ground sausage is in that day 1 &2 soup. I am going to make my soups with the same overall ingredients of theirs....and any alteration I am going to go healthy or lighter. I feel that way I am being creative rather than trying to "get away with something". I made one of their soups, but left out the bacon. It already had ham, so I didn't see the need for the extra salt and calories. The soup above sounds good.....I'll use it as a base and remove or change to fit the plan.

It's on their website. There are actually a lot of discrepencies in general. I have read the purpose of the plan and am using my knowledge and common sense. I just really rely on my warm beverages...and to me, skim dairy is very healthy for me.

Deb - I've been entertaining the idea of trying the 5 day pouch test, and haven't quite decided yet. How did it go for you? I know you said you did round one and were going to do another one. How did it go? Was it difficult to stick to?

Inquiring minds want to know.
