Sheesh....I looked this up right before it got posted. I don't wanna go that high in calories.......so I'll have to slim the recipe down or make different ones. From what I read it seems any soup with only beans, lentils, meat, and seasonings would be fine. I'm lazy and there's a few decent canned soups I might just use.

Ok, I like their website and they have some good info. But did anyone read their basic 4 rules? They say NO tea, coffee, milk, etc. WHAT??? I am not a big water drinker....and I use tea a lot to get my liquids. I couldn't live on water alone!!

I took out the whole sour cream and heavy cream. I cold never handle that much fat...it makes me dump. Dunno how much I really saved in calories...but I only ate 2 1 cp servings a day. And they were worth every calorie. LOL.

Goal! I did it!
107 pounds gone since my RNY
121 total pounds gone forever!
I finally have a "normal" BMI
Reached my first goal of 145...and setting a new one of 135.
Reached 135 and have decided to lose another five if I can.
Reached my new goal of 130...and I think I want to stop losing now. "Stop losing now".Wow, I never thought I'd ever say that!

BMI 23

Even though my pouch is tolerant of sugar, I wonder if the richness might make me queasy too. I'll try what you did......and I'm sure it did cut a lot of calories. Do you know if it freezes ok? I was thinking about doing the 5 day thing every month or 2 if I like it and think it helps....it would be nice to save some of the soup.

I'm sure it would freeze fine...I can't see any reason why it wouldn't.

How about this recipe Marty? I used to make this quite often when I did Weight Watchers. It's very yummy, and quick and easy to make. If you don't have a crock pot, you can just make it on top of the stove instead. If you don't like spicy foods, leave out the can of chile peppers. For this 5 day test, I'd probably leave out the corn as well, since it has 'bad' carbs. This freezes very well, if you want to double the recipe.

Crockpot Taco Soup
INGREDIENTS:
1 pound lean ground beef (or ground turkey)
1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans
1 can (11 to 15 ounces) whole kernel corn, drained
1 10 oz can Rotel tomatoes (look in the Mexican food aisle)
1 envelope taco seasoning
1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes
1 sm can chopped chile peppers (4 ounces)
1 can (15 ounces) pinto beans
1 envelope Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing
PREPARATION:
Brown the ground beef; drain well. Add remaining ingredients and stir. simmer in slow cooker on LOW for 6 to 8 hours.

How about substituting Fage 2% Greek yogurt for the whole sour cream? It tastes almost exactly the same. Going from memory, 7 oz of it has 120 or 130 calories, and 2 grams of fat....way less than all of that sour cream.

Where did you see that? I missed it...as a matter of fact, I thought it talked about decaf tea and the like being ok....if I missed something, I want to know. I'm getting ready to do another round. Thanks Marty.

That sounds woderful ,but as I read the pouch test, you really shoudn't do any substitutions.

Oops! I didn't read over it too well, since I'm still pre-op and won't have a need for it for awhile.
