Thumbs up Clothing Exchanges ROCK!

I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who brought clothes to exchange at Wednesday's East County Support Group! I scored pretty big with 4 pairs of jeans, 4 pairs of pants, 2 skirts, 5 shirts, and a jacket. I desperately needed something to wear to an interview I had yesterday, as all of my suits and jackets are way too big now. Beautiful Bridget gave me a hot pink jacket that was perfect for my "artsy" job interview - Thank you so much!

One funny thing - I brought all of the clothes home and put them through the washer. When I went to try them on the next day, I held up a pair of jeans and instantaneously thought, "There's no way these are going to fit me, they're too small." It was really depressing, and I decided to torture myself a little more by sticking my leg into the jeans - well, to my shock, they fit! It blew my mind - I still see myself with a size 28 derriere, and the new clothing just looks too small. What a trip!

Thanks again!

the clothing exchanges really help. The one in Poway a few months ago scored me some 14, 12 and 10's. Now that I am in a 12 I am thrift shopping for 10's and 8's. I just hit up the Victoria Secret sale for some despretely needed bras. I also go to the Everything $5 store. They have close outs from Department and Discount Stores. I bought some size 9 jeans today for $2.50

Default clothing exchange

How often and when is the next clothing exchange? Where is the $5 store you talk about? I am so thrilled to hear your stories from the other side. 2 more days for me.

Default Lemon Grove

Also, there is a $5 store on Lemon Grove Ave. in Lemon Grove....right next to the Henry's market place and a 99 cent store. I have been hearing of my friends going to thrift stores and scoring big too...that's what I am doing next....thrift store shopping!

Cool $5.00 stores and thrift store deals

There's a $5.00 store on Main Street in El Cajon and on University Ave, driving towards College in San Diego as well. I LOVE these stores, I get all my jeans there. They have jeans sizes 0-28! I go often as I lose a size every 6 weeks. Much of there stuff is designer too.. Bisou Bisou, Lane Bryant, DKNY, etc... even though it's cheap.. alot of it doesnt look trashy or cheap!
Also, The Salvation Army thrift stores have great bargains on Saturdays... during the week they have a featured colored tag that you receive additional 50% off the price, but on Thursdays those colored tags are a dollar, on friday's they are .75 cents and on Saturday... drum roll please they are .50 cents. I scored Calvin Klein jeans in perfect condition for .50 cents, jogging pants and (gasp) a white pants suit!!! A whole suit.. it's a couple of sizes too small but it's a goal to fit into. I actaully found 8 different items.. I was pleased. Karen and I discussed taking a field trip there next Saturday after "the walk" to check out what will be available, so bring your bucks if you want to go! I hope everyone is well. See you soon.

There are 10 stores county wide. The one on Baltimore is Suzie's deals and the clothes are not as nice. You want Everything $5 stores. I went to the one on Broadway in Chula Vista. I know there is one on La Mesa Blvd. I do not know where the rest are.

I also shop at the Children's Hospital Thrift Stores. They ROCK!!! they have a 20 cent rack and do regular markdowns. I buy jeans and dresses as cheap as a buck.
