Unhappy At 3 weeks.

Hi everyone. It was three weeks for me since surgery last Wednesday. I lost weight the first two weeks but now have not lost any this week. Everything I try to eat wants to either make me sick or leave me! I am so depressed! Is this normal? Did anyone else hit this snag? I would love to hear from anyone else who had this problem! Thanks!

Default Hey There, Hi There, Ho There..

We're as happy as can be..

Oh wait sorry got a little off track..

First of all Welcome Jo Ann glad to have you here.

I had that problem for a few months after surgery and found that if I just kept my pouch from being completely empty for a few days in a row that I was good to go. Basically I would starve myself for a few days.. (even though I wasn't hungry.. but you know what I mean) because I didn't want to deal with food. But I noticed as I ate more frequently like once or twice a day then I did better. It is all trial and error.. I sure hope you find what works for you, then stick with it for a while.. it'll all work out great.

Where are you from, and who was your surgeon? Just curious.. we got folks from all over here.

Good luck to you and don't worry about the weight loss or lack of it at 3 weeks.. your body is just catching up.. and getting ready for another pitfall of weight loss.. it's not a plateau.. don't stress.. k??

Thanks for answering so fast!! I guess I am just feeling a little discouraged. I am from NE Pennsylvania....the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area. My doctor is Dr. Gruniero. He was absolutely great! I guess I just have to figure out what is going to go down good....and stay there! I look forward to chatting more with you...thanks again!

Default How Cool

My Sister is in Central PA.. (Mifflin County) and my parents just arrived there today..

Anyway you will do fine.. the thing is finding something you can tollerate.. it is tough in the beginning.. I could only do mashed potatoes and refried beans in the beginning.. I was in a rut for sure... I was sick of being sick and almost considered having it reversed. But it got better and now I can pretty much eat anything I want in moderation and also what I allow into my mouth which is NOTHING containing sugar (even if I can tollerate it now I wouldn't know.. I refuse to go there.. it's a trigger for me) and I don't do too many things too often that are bad for me.. I try not to anyway.. lol

Christina, hey chickie.... let me get this straight.... you lost more weight by eating????? sounds backwards, but then again your body has to have some calories to burn calories.....

I'm not sure how weight loss will occur after surgery but I can tell you that it's normal for your body to take a 'breather' (a few days off). I learned that from my 25+years of roller-coastering dieting.

Also Christina is right. If you take in too little your body will shut down and hang on those calories.

Heed the advice of those here. I've learned to trust in them.

I found this URL in my mailbox today and I think it will offer an answer to your problem. Enjoy.
