Default anyone had these problems

Has anyone out there had these problems and if so can you offer any advice?
I am 4 months out from surgery and am still on liquids. I have had 5 EGDs to stretch strictures. Yesterday I had my last EGD and the doctor told me that my strictures are open but that I can not eat solid food because my small intestines were improperly attached to my pouch during surgery. According to the gastroenterologist, my intestined should have been attached to the bottom of my pouch so that food could drain out. Instead, mine is attached to the top left so food is unable to drain and comes straight back up my esophogus. He says that I need reconstructive surgery to prepare this. I am very hesitant and unsure of what to do. Has anyone else had these difficulties? I am supposed to meet with my surgeon on Monday but my husband feels that he messed up the first time so I should not let him do it again. Help!

That's very upsetting ... I'd be spitting bullets if I were you!!! Where are you located? Maybe someone here can lead you to a better surgeon...

Poor YOU!!!

I think Katie's right. I think a visit with a competent wls surgeon is in order. It's no way to live, and it can be done, correctly, laproscopically.

Best of luck to you!

HOLY CRAP! Can you say "LAWSUIT!" sheesh. Hope you get some relief soon. You need to research a very competent surgeon for this new surgery. Good luck.

That is terrible news! I'm so sorry -- I didn't even know that was something that could happen! I agree with your husband that this is a serious situation and would not be confident in having the same surgeon. If it was me, I might be curious enough to meet with my old surgeon if only to hear what he has to say for himself, but there is the factor that this is something that you might want to consider speaking to a medical malpractice attorney first. See if you have a case, and if so the attorney might recommend you NOT speak to your old surgeon anymore at all. Research other doctors in your insurance plan. Again, I'm so sorry this happened to you, but I suppose you can take some comfort in knowing that there is a reason for all your troubles and that it can be repaired. Some people on this Forum have many problems in their recovery and yet the doctors can't find out why. I honestly wish you the very best of luck with whatever next step you choose to take.

Unbelievable!
You most definetly need another surgeon. If the first surgeon has admitted the surgery was done wrong he probably should pay for you next surgery with the new surgeon and for lost wages, pain and suffering ect... Sounds like he is inexperienced. I agree with your DH, don't get caught up in what your first surgeon tell you he's trying to save his a~~. Can we say "MALPRACTICE!" I'm so sorry for you, I hope you can have it fixed without anymore suffering.

Can't you just lean over a bit to the left after you eat and drain your food out?

I kid, I kid.

Seriously, that idiot of a surgeon should never be allowed back inside the OR. See if you have a medical review board local to you and report him. Then get a lawyer and let him pay for your revision.

Just curious was it your surgeon who did your other EGDs? If not why wasn't this discovered earlier? I would definently seek another opinion if I were you.
