I had mine open and had to do the shots as well. They had me on Heparin in the hospital, and gave me Lovonox to take home. I personally couldn't shoot myself up (hence the reason I never became a druggie ), so my mom or dad would do it since either one was taking care of me post op. It s a tint 26 guage needle that doesn't hurt at all...

I heard they will leave bruising but thats nothing to fret over im sure ill be pretty well bruised enough i wont notice lol.

Bring a robe to the hospital with you. The gown will cover your front and the robe will cover your backside.

I was not allowed pj bottoms as there was a catheter for the first day and a half. So it was slippers and a robe.

Kim,

I think it is doctor dependent. My doctor didn't require one, but some on here have had them. (Search BigBearJeff for his catheter experience, but you'll need some tissues and a diaper--it's hysterical!)

Just ask your doctor what his procedure is.

Also...I was just looking at your weblog--you're quite the creative woman! Your candor and commitment so far seem to suggest how awesome you're going to do with this, plus you've got a really supportive family--it makes a BIG difference! (Furthermore, now you've got your Forum Family too!)

-Mike

awwww thanks! lol

My blog lets me release stress and what not. Honestly mike my parents aree real supportive noww my brothers are another story. My older one is lil more supportive then the younger one is all he cares about is how long it will be before i can watch my niece again. Very selfish he is if it isnt about him then he could care less...
