We were in the hospital the day of the surgery and out the next. It depends on your surgeon your lenghth of stay.
I told everybody but now looking back. There are some I wish I hadn't told, not because they are not judging me but they are judging themselves. I work with a man that is really heavy and he smokes, loves food, talks about food, everything is about eating. Now he walks into my office and looks at me and shakes his head. I told him what the surgery was going to do for me before I had it but he didn't grasp the changes that would come for me. I feel guilty wearing 34 jeans and XL shirts and he is wearing my 4xl jacket. He use to come to my office everyday and now I'm lucky to see him once a month. I don't flaunt my successes or tell anybody how much I have lost. It is really interesting watching the other people around me and see how they react to the weight loss. Be prepared to change some friendships and gain some new ones. I have some very good friends that have had RNY and met a lot of nice people through this surgery. Don't be afraid to not tell anybody. It is your comfort zone not anybody elses. This surgery is about you. Tell who you want to know and those that you don't feel comfortable about, don't tell them.
Take Care
