Default A size 6 really?????

So my size 12 jeans were getting rediculously big on me, so I did some shopping. I figured I would buy an 8 cuz a ten would fit nicely now, and I would rather buy them a little too small and wear them longer. Well I ended up with a 6. They fit pretty well; I have some muffin top, but not too bad.

Don't get me wrong, I am excited to say I am wearing a size 6 jeans, but I am just a little concerned with this. I mean I am 5' 2.5" and weigh 160lbs. I want to lose another 42lbs. What size will I wear when I get to my goal? If 10lbs = a size I will be smaller than a 0.

Sizing sure is different than it used to be. When I was in high school and was about 120lbs I never wore the teeny tiny sizes. I was always around an 8or so.

I know exactly how you feel!!!!

I am wearing a 2 in women's, and I weigh the same as I did in HS. The difference is in HS, I was wearing JR sizing...which is ODD numbers. I found out that a 2 in womens, most often translates to a 7-9 in Jrs. It's an odd sizing thing, but that's the jist of it. Of course every manufacturer is using a different size depending on their BASE sizer...so it's just best to try stuff on. LOL!! I have to say, I was thrilled to get out of oversized clothes, it was soooo hard to find anything. Now here I am needing really SMALL sizes, and again, it's hard to find things!!! Mind you, I wouldn't change a thing...it's just peculiar. The Gap has smaller sizes and their jeans run a bit on the smaller side, or so I have been told...it's were I get my jeans. LOL!!

Just your height - and weigh 125 - and I wear 2 petite in most pants. At 152 pounds, I comfortably wore I size six. I know this b/c after a long plateau, I thought this was where I would end - so I bought a wardrobe of 6s . . . huh. well, that didn't last. I now wear 2p on bottom and about a 6 on top. I have big shoulders. MY pant sizes went down quickly, then my shirt sizes - so you may be surprised how you end up. My favorite store is Ann Taylor Loft - the petite section is perfect for me. One thing you can find - if you have a straight body (no hips and thighs), you will be able to fit into a lot of small sizes - they just give so much more room than the old days. I can't begin to wear "curvy" styles. You may find that 125 pounds will be right for you. You are doing awesome. Enjoy your loss!!

Thanks ladies. I hope I didn't offend anyone. After I posted this I thought it may have come off as sounding snotty. That was not my intent. I was just surprised how much sizing has changed and how much my body shape has changed too (i.e. I have no butt now)

Hee! We totally have the same body. If anyone got offended, well, they have other issues! This forum is for us to ask questions - and well, even those of us who have lost all of our weight still have questions!! I now find that some stores don't even carry my size - all of those 4-16 stores - yeah, I was too big . . and now, too little. If you have Ann Taylor Loft close by, they have great petite clothes for the non-curvy types . . . ie us no-butt-ers. My waist is about a 26 inches, but my hips are only 33 inches. LOTS of clothes are made for much hippier chicks!! But ATL always has some straight fit pants - or skinny pants . . . no "curvy" for me!!

That's awesome! What a great experience for you!

I just had one in the opposite direction because I think they've changed my favourite brand of jeans and how they sized them and what they called them.

Sizing must be all over the map because I went shopping today for jeans and I used to buy one particular brand sold here called 'Joe'.

'Joe' jeans used to have numbers to categorize their styles of jeans, 101's, 102's, etc. Now, they have a different way of naming the styles and I swear the sizes have gotten a lot smaller. At 219lbs I was squeezing (and I mean literally squeezing) into their style 101's, size 16's and it was painfully uncomfortable.

Well, 57lbs lighter - you'd think I'd be in a much smaller 'Joe' size. But, like I mentioned, now they have styles called J1's and J2's, etc., and they seem much smaller. Now, at 5' 3" and 162lbs I'm just fitting into a size 12... sizing is crazy!!!

Hugs,
Kimberly

Im so happy for you. The shorter a women is the smaller her sizes get. Don't be alarmed. You are 5"2 for a totally lean fit women its not uncommon to see them wearing size 2's and even 0's. I know a few. Trust me when I say its completely normal.

That kinda sounds werid coming from a guy a suppose. I just wanted to say its normal. The taller a women is the more her sizes sqew. Tall women who are lean alot of times wear 6's-8's even though tecnically their bodies are the size of 2's 4's.
