I have psoriatic arthritis - I've been on Enbrel for 2 years. I got off for 5 weeks after my GBS for fear of infection, but I am practically symptom free now. Enbrel is an injectible drug - I give myself a shot once a week. If I get any redness of swelling - I take Tylenol. I didn't ahve much of a tolerance for INSAIDS prior to surgery, so Enbrel was a godsend to me. OH, and Enbrel is also for rheumatoid arthritis.

Thanks Laurie...I don't have arthritis now, but I believe it's coming down the road for me... With NSAIDs not being an option, I wasn't sure what was out there... the doctor at my last SMA (Shared Medical Appt) said that there is more and more drug development coming our way... not to worry about the future

She was pretty awesome. If I didn't already love my PCP, I might have to switch to her!

Hi, I have artheritis in both hips, much more severe in the left hip and I tried numerous medications when I was in the US, mild up to a synthetic morphene and most were not so great on my system, giving me stomach problems and only working a short time to relieve pain. I was not lucky to have great insurance from my employer, thus I think I had some limitations. Since coming to Italy I have been given 3 meds I take each morning Diclorium which is a minor pain relief and anti inflamitory, Contramal SR 150mg, which is a pain relief and works well for 12-14 hours and also since the artheritis has progressed in the past 2 years I was given the strongest offered here called Arcoxia(etoricoxib) 90 mg and the cocktail seem to allow me to walk with a cain without feeling pain. At night is a different story as I only take these meds in the morning and by the middle of the night the pain returns without proper positioning of my hips during the night. All this being said, now since loosing 170 and with upcoming plastic surgery in December, I have also been given a green light and surgery date of Feb. 25th to have my left hip replaced and this is a great gift of having lost the weight throught the lap. gast. byps. I hope that your thoughts of upcoming artheritis perhaps will not come to reality.

I use Humara and injectable every two weeks. and Tylenol. They help the pain, but it never really leaves. Mine is in all large joints and fingers as well as in my spine in two locations. The joys of getting old...

Keep on keeping on...

Thanks all... I also spoke to one of the surgeons last night at their seminar about medications... I feel better knowing there are options available... and hopefully I'll dodge some of the problems by "fixing" me now...

You're all the best!
