Barbara,
What a great story! I knew we would hear from someone with a story!
I am so impressed that you did this at 300 pounds! I am so proud of you too! I'm so glad to hear that she is a survivor! The irony of it, dang! Raise the money, get diagnosed with breast cancer, and survive. Hallalujah! Return to work in sight! Please tell her, it's because of her story that I'm doing this! She's amazing!
Barbara, since you asked, I could use your support in a financial way to meet my goal. As soon as I set up my fundraising web pager, I'll be sure you all get the link.
Thanks as always for your neverending support.
I love you too!

A few questions
When you have donations who do they make the check to? Do I just hold the checks until Oct, or not have them turn them in until Oct?
I asked the GM at my dealership if they did any kind of sponsorship, and he told me no, but that he would donate the first $100.00 and that I could do a flier to give to all the employees, so that they can donate also. Pretty cool. There is 200+ employee's, so if I could get them to all donate $20.00 I would be set. That would be way over the amount that I need.

Jeanie YOU ROCK!
Wow! I'm so impressed with your progress so far! You'll meet the goal for sure!
I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question, but I'll find out about collecting money, like checks and who you make it out to.

Fyi...
Kim - I'll support you in any way that I can. One of my favorite parts of the walk were the cheering crowds in every city and neighborhood that we walked through. I remember clearly walking down the road through The Presidio in San Francisco only 5 miles from our end-point and seeing my husband, his sisters, his mother (a double mastectomy survivor) and his cousins all cheering with signs for us... It was one of the best moments of my life. I also can't forget the 8-year-old boy who was sitting on his front porch alone at 9am with a boombox playing "I Will Survive" and waving to all of us... it was an amazing experience. I would love to pass along that good karma to someone else... especially you, my love
FYI - If you're not able to fundraise the entire amount, there are several options when you arrive to register before the first day of your walk. Option 1: many people fundraise over the minimum requirement and are happy to share their donations to help others meet the minimum - it's all about love and sharing and happiness during the 3-Day, even during registration. Option 2: they can take a credit card and delay billing for up to 3 months, which gives you extra time to fundraise after the walk if needed.
These were the options 3 years ago, not sure if they have changed, but wanted to let you know.
Smooches, B

Barbara,
Oh my gosh! I'm in tears! I've been told by my friend that this experience is enough of a high to last you until you do it again next year. It's all about love and support. She said you'll be so loved upped by Sunday, you won't come down for months. The people you meet along the way, she also said was amazing. People on every corner, cheering you on, handing out trinkets of appreciation, banners, signs, honking from cars, etc. Your friends and family can meet you at the camping spots and hang out with you until lights out. I'm blown away that you would be there to cheer us on. Honored also.
..."the 8-year-old boy who was sitting on his front porch alone at 9am with a boombox playing "I Will Survive" and waving to all of us... it was an amazing experience." This really touched my heart to my very sole!
Thanks for letting us know about option 3 and 4. I think you're right about the credit card deferment of payments, I forgot about that. I didn't know about others, other than team mates, helping with fundraising at the last minute! How cool is that?

Doing it
If you believe, you can achieve.
You know Im never afraid of failing, Im afraid of not trying. This is really cool chicken! I would not be able to day a 3 day becuase of having the boys. I wish y'all the best of luck though! Asking 100 people for $20 seems obtainable... Kim I got you for $20 SMACKERS! Love ya!!

3 Day Breast Cancer Walk
Jeanie, I have recently registered for the 3 Day Walk also, I live in La Mesa. I'm looking to create a group of Gastric Bypass patients to do the walk. There is NO TENT SLEEPING REQUIRED!!!!!! Yes, it's true, you can go home each night and sleep in your own bed or get a hotel close by! I'd also like to offer to you and anyone else you know doing this walk a FREE injury prevention training. My sister is a local podiatrist, she's volunterring on the walk this year and before the walk is offering a free seminar to anyone registered for the walk to avoid injurys while on the walk.
Let me know if you are interested!

When I put it all in prespective I see that sleeping in a tent is nothing compared to what some women have had to go through. SO where do I sign up? What do I do?
I can't meet Sunday the 20th for walking, but I will be at the next one's. I will walk a little longer on the treadmill at the gym tonight.
