Default Can I eat too much?

Hi, new here and so glad to have found it. I'm 6 months post-op and not a member of any support group on-line or otherwise. My dr.'s office has been so helpful that I haven't felt aq need till recently.
My question for now is this: I've had a rouen-Y and I seem to be able to eat a lot. a whole new potato, or an entire artichoke, or a whole medium chicken breast. Slowly, but I can. The nurses at the office laugh a little at my concerns, but I am worried about this. I had a stricture that had to be dillitated three times, and then I kept getting food stuck b/c my esoph. was having spasms b/c of the three dillatations. Everything settled down finally about 4 months post op and now I'm afraid that they made the opening to my pouch too large (15mm) and I can eat too much. My weight loss is on target, and I'm feeling good, but what if this is bad long term?

It is possible to eat too much by constantly snacking. You should be fine as long you're progressing to having 3 meals a day with an occasional snack in between. What you're eating is still tiny in comparison to even the average recommended serving size. As long as you're on track, I wouldn't stress too much over it.

I had the same concern when I started eating "normal" food (not blended), first I could only eat a gerber portion( you know, the one for babies) now I can eat a cup of food but nothing else. If you compair what you could eat before the operation is a lot more of what you can eat now, even if you think is too much!

Thumbs up Eating too much

You'll know if you ate too much. The transition from newly post-op to honeymoon period ending and being able to eat more around 6 months is definitely scary!! I freaked out the first time I could eat more. It is scary, but you're fine.. sounds like you are right on track. Trust me if you eat too much, you will know. Try not to pick at your food and eat too slowly though. You should not spend more than 15 minutes on your meal, at least that is what my Dr. told me. Good luck to you..
