Anyone hear of 2 deaths in Ontario area - ThinnerTimes - Gastric Bypass Forum, Lap Band Forum, and Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy Forum

2 deaths this week, one from liposuction and one from complications from Gastric Bypass in Ontario (eastern canada) this week. I caught a quick news cast last night on the gastric bypass story - but can't find it on the net.

The other was from liposuction that was done in a clinic where 32 year old lady died from complications.

Very sad - in that +/- the 1% of those that die from the procedure.

There is the news article in regards to the liposuction one. Seems the doctor was not licensed in the field.

Just goes to remind you, research, research, research.

When there's death or severe complications, the majority of the time the doctor is NOT a board-certified plastic surgeon, but an ear, nose and throat guy, or even a gynecologist who attended a Saturday afternoon instructional clinic. It's horrible, but legal... any surgeon can legally perform any kind of surgery, at least in the US.
