Default Thanks everyone!

I appreciate the feedback. You're validating some of my (good) presuppositions, so onward we go. I'm beginning to do a bit of self-directed behavior modification, like taking a walk after work several times a week, spending more time on the computer / online when I get home from work (major binge/snack time for years...) and have confided my plans to a co-worker who is a nurse and will help me stay on track with monthly check-ins. Plus all of you, of course!

Default I'm just beginning the process

Really new at this stuff of writing to strangers but how else am I going to learn and get some support. Went to the seminar and filled out my paper work, so I am truly at the beginning of everything. Thought about it for over a year and know about 8 people who have had the surgery from different doctors and all of them are so glad they did it. Just decided I wanted to get off my meds if possible and hopefully do a little more with my life. So, any more words of wisdom and encouragement will be greatly appreciated. I think this waiting period will be harder than the surgery itself. As far as the life changes I have to make, I am trying to start a little at a time, one day at a time. Hopefully I can lose the 10 to 20 pounds Dr. Callery recommends. Gosh, this waiting can be stressful.

Default Congrats Cindy

Congrats on your decision to persue this. It is exciting and scary at the same time. I know what you mean about the waiting. This has been a 2 year process for me and I finally have a date. I agree with hapbird about modifying things ahead of time. I quit smoking, cut out my beloved Pepsi and am walking daily to help ease myself thru this. I am still scared to death, but from what I read here in the forum that is natural. I am so ready for this. I have let everyone at work know what I am doing. I've been here for 9 years and we are like a family. The support I'm getting from my coworkers is incredible. They are having a "Pam's last fling" party for me this Friday, my last day before surgery. The support on this forum is awesome, so many questions were answered before I asked them. Keep us posted on your progress. Good luck.

Smile Welcome Cindy

It is so good to see you. Everyone here has been awesome to me through the pre op and post op stages.... you are in the right place! Make sure you come to the picninc in a couple of weeks and hang out... see that there is food after surgery. It will be a good way to see folks and all of their different stages with the surgery. Best of luck to you..... your time will be here before you know it... Best wishes!

Default thanks pam and bridget for the welcome

Only a few people at work know I am attempting this voyage. Of course they are the ones who have had it done already so I have a great support team there. There are a lot of ladies who say "I'll never have that done."" Well I say, to each his own. We have to do what we have to do. Of course the line that gets me is.. If I want to have another piece of cake or whatever I will have. I say to that, "How do you think I got in this condition?" So, change my ways I will. And it is good to have support from people you don't even know.
