Default Congrats!

Bardley, congrats on your approval! I'm so happy for you!

Yes, you can absolutely make it through the 10 day liquid diet. Here's how I know: I did it myself, more or less, even after my surgery was cancelled and I no longer had the surgery date looming.

I started my surgeon's 14-day pre-op "mostly liquid" diet on July 17 to prepare for my July 31 surgery - I didn't have to do liquids alone, but the diet consisted of two BariatRx Essentials chocolate protein shakes (not too bad, as far as protein powders go) and a Lean Cuisine or other light dinner, basically not more than 1000 calories per day. After I coughed up the $60.00 for the one week's the supply of protein powder (yes, that's right, my fingers didn't slip on the keyboard - it was $60.00 for the big 42-scoop container, which produced 14 three-scoop shakes, a week's supply under the surgeon's guidelines) and had started the diet, the surgeon cancelled my surgery (I did a separate thread on that happy subject).

Well, I decided that I was still going to make use of the expensive protein powder and finish the week of "liquid dieting", so I did so. Then I went out and bought a cheaper protein source (tried various things - some better than others) and did another week of two shakes and a light dinner, usually a Lean Cuisine, staying under 1000 calories. I basically kept it up for more than that week, and found I could deal with it just fine. As cvnh pointed out, the first couple of days are hard, but it DOES get easier. The high levels of protein intake helped suppress my appetite and the shakes made me feel full and tided me over to the next meal. I found that I was REALLY hungry by the time dinner rolled around, but my Lean Cuisines usually did the trick and I went to bed feeling good.

From the beginning of July to the middle of August, I lost over 30 pounds and didn't commit homicide, so I can attest that it works and is totally doable. I am trying to get back to that regimen again after a couple weeks of self-indulgence - I definitely felt better. I have faith in your abilities, Bardley - if an overeater like me could do it, then you definitely can do it.

Good luck to you, sir!
