For all the women out there. Sorry guys you may not want to read.
I was just wondering if any of you women have or have had the same problem as i?
I have ALWAYS had very normal periods, like clock work every 28 days. Since i was sixteen.
Last September, as a last resort i started seeing a nutritionist. As my 1 last ditch effort before i started process for GBS. She put me thru a detox program, on all these vitamins, made me eat salads, and 400-600 calories for breakfast and dinner. Which mind you I did not do very well on. Any way. I noticed that my periods started to come later and later and were more and more painful each time. I felt like total CRAP the whole time i was on this. I finally had to stop, and by 3 days later i was feeling great again.
Here is my question. Do you think it had something to do with that, or do you think it has something to do with my weight getting up there. I have never weighed 300 lbs before. Do you think my body is shutting down, due to my being so fat? Like i said i have never had a problem with this before. At first it was a day late, now it is 1 to 3 days late. I know it is NOT that i am pregnant.
I have also been having some headaches, this too is a new thing to me. I just dont get them very often. This week i have had them 4 days out of 7.
What's up?

I wish I could help, but I have never been regular, and I have a history of cancer, so I can have mine as many as 45 days, then stop and start again in a week. I had three in December. Your weight can effect your cycle, but how old are you? Could it be that you are in your middle age? Is it possible that this could be the beginning of the menopause? Stress and nerves can also play with your cycle, and I know how stressed you have been. What did your well womans check up yeild?
Headache? Have you stopped caffeine? Have you been taking any medication that you may have stopped abruptly? Have you been on steroids recently?
Hope you feel better.
Hugs,
Traci

I am only 32 years old, so i dont think it is the beginning of menapause. At least i hope.
It must be stress and nerves. I have a hard time telling when i am stressed out. I thought i was a peace with my decision, so i did not really feel stressed out. What the heck could i be stressed out about now?
It did finally come, but it was 3 days late. I was just hoping it would be on time, because i am going to try to plan my surgery around it, I just dont want to have to deal with that right after surgery. Ya know.
Well thanks for your help Traci.

Here's my guess. My Doctor told me that obese people have a seriously high level of estrogen. Something about stored fat limiting the amount of testosterone produced, so more estrogen is produced. She told me that's most likely why all three of my babies were born in the midst of placental abruptions. Those high levels of estrogen would definately make your period late, and more severe. As far as the headaches go, I have pretty severe headaches myself, that I never had before. They are blood pressure headaches I'm told. Face it sugar, your body is not going to react to normal things the way it used to. It's not going to react the way a healthy persons would, because we are not healthy... right? It will get better I'm certain of it! Ask your doctor about what I said.... maybe there is a suppliment that can help for the time being......

I weighed well over 300, was as regular as clockwork. Headaches? Everytime it rains. So, yeah, I am miserable right now. Only thing brightening my day is that I have 2 more pounds to go to hit the Century mark!

Whooooohoooooo Tricia, you go girl.
I used to get blood pressure headaches too, but they were a dull ache, and I could hear my heart beat in my ears.
Hugs,
Traci

My turn
I used to get headaches pre operatively, after surgery I rarely get them, maybe 4 times this year. I was always pretty regular with my period, so I am no help to you on that matter. BUT my first two periods after gastric bypass surgery were awful! The worst cramps ever! Perhaps all that escaping testerone and regulating estrogen levels? Wo knows. I bleed like crazy, when I usually have a 3 day cycle. One day I had to all out sick from work it was so miserable. Im not sure if others had experienced the same type of thing, but it was VERY unusual for me.... after the 3rd month, things went back to normal.
Tricia: YEHAW!!!!!!!! WOO HOO Century girl!

Traci,
Blood pressure headaches?? Never heard them called that. My b/p is low, 110/70 usually. These have something to do with barometric pressure change that a storm can bring. Not as bad as before the surgery. I used to be able to tell you when it was going to rain three days in advance!

Gosh I am just no help here...sorry. I have an IUD since July 2001 and stopped having periods May 2004. I did have 1 very light one post-op, but nothing to write home about. Some say bad, some say good for me. My obgyn says "good for me" so that's what matters. lol.
Hope u feel better...i'm sure my post did not help. sorry.

My periods we always iregular would show up when ever it felt like it and sometimes I would bleed twice in a month. When I was put on birth control pills they became every 28 days. This month how ever it came a week early. But I think that is just stress and nerves. My WLS is tommorw morning so I am still bleeding and I get to deal with that at the same time, I am so lucky....LOL
