Does Anyone Journal?
Do any of you keep a journal of your weight loss journey?
How about a food journal?
Do you "do it" (LOL) online or the old fashioned way?
What about keeping a notebook with printouts, articles, etc.???
I'm carrying around a notebook and a favorite pen to write as I go... this forum serves as a journal in it's own way... Lord knows there are plenty of good tips here to print out and save in a binder...
Just curious who's using journaling as a tool...

I do
I started my journal the first day I saw my surgeon to inquire about surgery. In my journal, I've written down my pre-op measurements and weight, feelings and frustrations, and mini wow moments. I also took my journal to the hospital with me and I wrote in it both before and after surgery. Although my handwriting right after surgery is horrible! lol!
I hope to be able to look back at the beginnings in 6 months or so and see major differences in my life. My journal includes my before pictures and will soon include one month out.
Teri
***no food journal, and yes, my journaling is the old-fashioned way...I bought a beautiful wine-colored velvet covered journal just for this.

I have a notebook I keep in my purse/car wherever I go. But I am bad for writing in it and will usually miss anywhere from 2-4 days easily.
I am good with the online ones for about a month or so and then stop using them. Not sure why.
I would love to find a system that works well for me, just have not found one yet. We are all different, hehe.
And I will agree with you about the binderful of tips, I print out whatever I find usefull online or here in the forums, and wow, it is almost a novel itself.

I journal online. When I decided to pursue wls I felt like I needed to write my thoughts and feelings down. So I started a blog and made it private so I am the only person that can see it. I can add photos, cut and paste tips, whatever I want to do. I think better typing...I was a secretary for 15 years many moons ago.

I am anal, so I write lots in my little book. Kept it up faithfully for one year and now I write in it monthly. I keep my feelings and story here under personal stories, but my little book went with me to all my appointments.
What I kept was: weight, monthly measurements, daily food journal, b12 injection dates, blood test dates, notes to and from dietician. I also wrote in any milestones or accomplishments ie: walking, crossing legs etc. I wrote down when I had a pissy pouch, when I puked, if I didn't eat much - why, and any other feelings that I had that challenged me. In the back of my book I wrote down the common protein grams of foods. It helped me to count my grams (I soon memorized them) I didn't track calories very much - I entered into fitday here and there just to see where it was at, but that was a lot of work.
At 18 months out now I do a monthly recording of weight, measurements and any other relevant info - blood work, accomplishments.
I think one year was just about right for me. I still look back on things and occasionally write down my foods especially if I see a pattern developing.
I also have a binder of information I have gathered relating to GBP, some from here...ie: pouch rules. Some eating patterns from other doctors, all the stuff that I researched on different procedures, doctors, etc.
I am a list person..........so it works for me - some might think I am crazy!
