I had alp RNY 4 months ago, at age 59 - Wish I'd done it years ago! My hospital stay was 23 hours - no problems whatsoever.

I don't think age is a factor in this surgery, either.

Corrine, I'll be 56 by the time I get my surgery... and no, none of the Doctors and therapists I've met thus far have kicked me out of the program for being to dang old! In fact, no one has even mentioned it! So relax about that - and join me on the road! (This will help us put off the support hose and old-lady shoes indefinately!)

Default Hi Corine

I had my surgery in 05 at the age of 52 and I want to tell you the only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. I was afraid that I wouldn't come out of the anesthesia but I had half my thyroid removed a year before and figured I came out of it fine then so go for the WLS ! I weigh now what I did over 30 years ago. I feel great. I had an insisional hernia but that has been taken care of and I also had my panni removed so no more pain in the hips. If you are concerned about this surgery . Do alot of reading. It took me a couple of years before I decided to "Go For It" . Even after the initial consultation I held off starting the process because I was scared.
Good Luck
Sandy
