6 days post op
Morning! Ok, so I am 6 days post op and absolutely loving life!! I felt HORRIBLE the first 3 days, but now they are much smoother. I measured myself 2 days before surgery and just for giggles did it again last night, and OMG...I have lost 3 inches in multiple places on my body! This is so sweet!!! I cant wait to do it again in a month!!! I think that I have been blessed with my outcome, I dont seem to be having alot of issue like some are, with the exception of my back is now aching...I think from lying on it so much! Before the surgery I was a tummy sleeper. I just can not say how happy I am that after 5 years of research, I FINALLY did it! YAY!! OMG, I am on the losers bench! Make room for me!

Hi podmate! I had my surgery the same day you did. Glad for you that you've had such a smooth ride. Mine has been a little bumpier, but not that awful, if I'm being totally honest and leave my weeinie-ness to the side.
I haven't stepped near a scale or a tape measure..I'm waiting til I see my surgeon at 2 weeks. I feel like if I watch the whole process every day it will take forever. LOL.
I hear ya on the sore back thing. I'm a side sleeper and can't quite manage it all night yet. I wake up in the morning with a killer back ache....matches my killer tummy ache I guess.
Welcome to the losers bench...and so glad to be sitting right next to you.

Goal! I did it!
105 pounds gone since my RNY
119 total pounds gone forever!
I finally have a "normal" BMI
Reached my first goal of 145...and setting a new one of 135.
Reached 135 and have decided to lose another five if I can.
I'm in the 130's for the first time since puberty!

I'm a side sleeper too. I spent the first 2 nights after I got home from the hospital in a recliner. Not much sleep and uncomfortable. Finally, I decided to hell with it and after my husband helped me get into bed (we have a high bed) and get positioned, I slept like a baby. What I did was to support my belly with a small (think baby size) pillow. It was a little sore, but getting a good nights rest more than made up for it.
After 2 days my stomach was no longer tender and I am back to side sleeping without use of an extra pillow.
Hope this helps,
Teri

Hey Debbie,
Glad to be sharing this ride with someone else! I am sorry to hear that you are on a bumpy road though. I will be thinking the happy thoughts for you.
My surgeon did not measure me at pre-op, this is just something that I did on my own. I heard a lot of people talking about it and thought I would really want to know this. I figure that I will try to measure about once a month. I am noticing things about me almost every day though, just by seeing myself in the mirror.
My tummy is doing GREAT, it still has that little PULL to it when I get up and down, but no real problems. I would love to sleep on my tummy again so that I can have a good nights sleep. I have my G Tube in for 5 more weeks, so NO Tummy sleeping for me in the next few weeks. I find myself trying to do it during the night and waking up really uncomfortable and trying to roll back over.
Thanks for the GREAT welcoming party...that is exactly what it is to me now, a great big party for the new me that is on its way!
I am so glad to be here with you!!

Hi Teri,
We thought about the idea of getting a recliner before the surgery, but then thought why buy it just for that. My hubby and I love to sit and snuggle on the couch together, so it would not have made much since to purchase it and use it for a few weeks. I can't wait to get a goods night sleep...I haven't done that since I was 3 days away from my pre-op! I was so nervous before hand that I was up every hour each night, and you KNOW that you don't get any sleep while you are in the hospital! LOL. I don't remember too much from the hospital stay or the 2.5 hour drive home as I had a real hard time with the anesthesia and nausea and was out more than anything. I had friends visit me that I didn't even know about until I was home for 2 days!
