Did your doctor/surgeon advise you as to what kind of protein you should be getting in? You will need to get a lot of protein in during this phase, and since you can't "eat" it, you have to drink it... For my pre-op liquid diet, I was instructed to do 6 servings of no-sugar-added Carnation Instant Breakfast per day, along with at least 48 oz. water or other sugar-free/caffiene-free/non-carbonated beverages. I was also allowed to have broth, SF jello, SF ice pops, etc.-- anything liquid and without calories. Your goal, calorie-wise, should be about 800 calories per day while on the liquid diet-- anything less than 800 claories per day is NOT healthy for extended periods.
The NSA CIB became quite tiresome for me by the end of the 8 days, but it got in the protein that I needed... Actually, broth for dinner became the highlight of my day, simply because it wasn't "sweet"-- I got SOOO sick of "sweet" stuff!!!
Whatever you decide to get to stock up, don't plan on stocking up on large quantities of ANYTHING for post-op-- you will only be able to consume tiny quantities of food, and you don't know how you will tolerate it after surgery... people's tastes really DO change sometimes; you could have stuff you crave today, and post-op the mere smell of it might make you nauseous.
