Question Complications

I may be moving to east Africa in a couple of years. I was wondering after the surgery is complete how far out can you expect to have complications with the surgery? I am wondering because unfortunately I have not been able to find any information about bariatric surgery in Kenya, because of this I don't know if I were to move to Kenya whether there would be doctors who would have had WLS experience on patients with possible complications and their treatment.

If anyone can share your experience with complications and what to possibly expect the further out you are after having the surgery it would be appreciated. My surgery is Lap RNY....August 8 woo hoo!

Everyone is different. You may never have any complications, some do some don't. I did after 3.5 years, but it was a fairly easy find as to the cause and some surgery to correct it. There are others that have had complications since having had surgery. Yet others that developed complications within a few weeks. There are many threads out there on complications. Hopefully with a lot of time and a little research you could search them and maybe find some answers. A majority of people I've read have done great with no complications. Hopefully you will be one of those that will not. I understand you concern with Kenya and all. I would think that if you did develop a complication that if you were not comfortable with the doctor's there that hopefully you would be able to return home for treatment and then return when you were well enough. Wishing you the best of luck. I would be a little nervous too, but hopefully you will do just fine.
