I had my surgery at Hershey Medical Center with Dr. Shope-- he was FABULOUS, as were the entire bariatric team. Hershey has a really great-- although rigorous-- pre-op program, and by the time you have surgery they make sure you are completely prepared, physically and mentally. I can't recommend the program highly enough-- it was really world-class care; I have zero complaints.
They also have a monthly support group meeting that meets every 3rd Thursday of the month, at the Fitness Center on the hospital grounds; it's open to pre-op as well as post-op patients, so it's a good place to get started if you want to meet the nutritionists and surgeons and get a feel for the program.
