Monday Mania - The Day After
The Doctor Sez Department –
Had my first follow-up with my surgeon last Thursday. He is very happy with my progress, and has released me to eat any foods I desire except for beef and pork. So what do I do? I steam some broccoli and enjoyed the hell out of that. I’ve been hungry for fruits and veggies more than anything! I will see him in 2 months. He asked how I was doing with my protein drinks, and I was honest and told him I couldn’t find anything the “lil guy” likes. He suggested protein bars. I’ve since tried a few, and they are not bad at all!
I Knew You Did It Department –
I was sent to a training class, and sat next to an obese woman. She kept watching me throughout the day as I drank my crystal lite, cheese and protein bar throughout the day. She finally asked if I had gastric bypass. I asked her how she knew, and replied by the food I was eating, saying “only us obese people would pick up on that.” She then proceeded to ask me a ton of questions about wls, as she has been looking into it. Of course, I told her about this forum.
Having an “Emo” Moment Department –
I’ve been feeling loopy for the last week or so, with my emotions going crazy – high to low and back to normal. I think I’m finally over it. I really hate it when that happens.
Belt Notch Department –
I had to pull a notch up on my NEW belt! In fact, my NEW pants are getting loose. Looks like a trip back to Marshall’s in the near future. I expect to break 60 lbs. this week. It’s so hard for me to comprehend, 60 lbs. gone forever. My wife and I went to the mall, and I couldn’t help looking at myself in those narrow full length mirrors. I FIT! I mean, I can see my whole body in the mirror - SIDEWAYS! Other people think were crazy for getting excited over these things, but to us, it’s a great milestone, and reason to celebrate!
The I Don’t Believe It’s You Department –
My 30th. high school reunion is in September. The reunion committee has been sending out weekly “newsletters”, giving us a synopsis of what people have been doing the past few decades. The last one has a picture of one of our “star” football players. OMG, he looks bigger than me at my heaviest! Same with a few other people. I would not have recognized them if I met them on the street. Wait till they get a load of ME when I show up!
Have a Great Day!

I bought a steamer and did steamed string beans with shrimp sprinkled with ginger and garlic salt....yummy. If you want a recipe for a low car peanut sauce just give me the word.
I loved the power crunch bars very early on and I now love the meal replacement south beach choc peanutbutter bars (Not the little ones) These are 210 cal with 19 g of protein. I keep it in my purse for when I am running low or need a snack. I eat about 1/4 or 1/2 for a snack.
I Knew You Did It Department –
She was observant to pick up on it not having had the surgery herself

I found a couple bars at the grocery store. Jeez, I can't believe how many there are! It's insane!
One is called "Pure Protein" with 20g protein, 0 trans fat, 2g sugar, 190 calories. I picked up the chocolate peanut butter - my pouch likes it.
The other one is the MET-Rx Protein Plus Bar - 32g protein, 0g fat, 2g sugar and 320 calories (chocolate roasted peanut with caramel). It's a good size bar.
I'm not concerned about the calories at this point, since I'm getting maybe 1000 per day (without the bar).

Pat, love your updates. Funny how some people can recognize a GBP person from a mile away. I suspect we do the same.
A notch on the belt....a great milestone!
