Friend made me feel ashamed
I have this friend who is a size 16-18. We have been friends for about two months so she never knew me when i was heavy. We get along, have fun, and laugh all the time. Well last night i told her i was going to go to old navy because they were having a sale. Well when we got there i got a couple of things and headed to the fitting room. She was in the one beside me and i asked her to look at a pair of pants and tell me what she thought. When i turned around she asked me how much i weighed. I said 148. (at 5'6) and she said in front of about 10 people. I can't believe that you still weigh that much and can wear a size four. i was speechless i didn't know how to respond. So then i came home and began trying on all the four's i had in my closet and wondering if they were just marked wrong. I know some of my shorts are 6 but some 4's from the same store. I just felt awful. I feel like i will never be able to go shoping with friends again.

Your friend was being an ass.... jealousy does tht to the best of us!
Don't take it to heart honey, you are whatever size the clothes say you are... and I can't tell you how many size 6 I have that can fit my size 8 friend and others fit my size 4 friend... it's all in the cut and manufacturer.
The real question is.... do you feel good and comfortable about where you are right now?
If the answer is yes... then blow off the comment and let her deal with her own emotions.... you are better than that!

I think your friend was wrong to say that in front of other people.
As for what she said, well I posted here a couple of days ago and said the same thing. If you imagine someone 5'6" who weighs 145 ...well my friend who is 5'6" and weighs 142 is in a 12, and she doesn't wear baggy clothes. Yes, it's the clothing size variation and vanity sizing, but you know I really do think that something about the weight loss makes people wear a smaller size than someone who's always been that weight.
If she's a good friend and a real friend being insensitive, I'd tell her it embarrassed me and in general I'd want comments about my size to be private unless they're raving about how great I look. If she was being nasty I'd be done with that friendship.

Your friend was totally rude. I weigh 160 and I wear a size 6/4 from Old Navy it just depends on the cut. As long as you look good, who cares what the tag says.

Not Defending her...
I agree that was not right.... but maybe she has a twisted sense of weight/size??
Definately dont take what she said to heart, some people are just, well not as refined as some us. <BURP>

jealousy can make green eyes blind!!!
don't worry about it!
we all weigh different amounts and wear different sizes.
I am 5' 7 1/2" and weigh around 170 and can wear anything from an 8 to a 12, mostly 10, but I hear people say that people can't wear 10's if they weigh 170....I beg your pardon, but yes I can!!!!
BTW, those are size 10 Michael Kors bermudas on the second signature pic.....as are most of my pants!!!
the first pic are Lane Bryant size 22W

IMO - you need to let your friend know her bounderies - in a nice way.
If she does it again, then ask her why she keeps making those comments, again, friendly.
If she doesn't get the message, be blunt! At least you will know if you have a real friend or not!
I had a manager friend of mine who started joking in front of others about my name and "Patrick" on Sponge Bob. I went in his office after a while and told him that was not right, it was embarrassing and to please not do that again. He was apologizing all over himself.
He's a great guy, just didn't think. Of course, he had no idea of what I'd been through growing up, but that's beside the point. Were still good friends, I simply showed him the line that is not to be crossed.
Hopefully, your friend will react the same way!
