Good for you Van.......
i thought you had more issues than this. So you can eat solids at least some of them? I can eat them too.. they just make me sick nauseous. Are you the one that was told by the surgeon you had a lot of scar tissue?

I am not sure if I am the person whom your referring too but yes my surgeon said that my body was healing too good and he said that I had a lot of scar tissue that laid itself right down by the stoma..He said that scar tissue shows no mercy...it will lay stake to where ever it wants to.
When I say I am hit or miss with solids...I can eat very few solids...If I can't chew it into a liquid mush I can not and will not eat it.I have never really left the "pureed stage"I have adjusted pretty damn good IMO
As long as I don't push solids I am good...Sounds wrong but I am doing ok.
Still no meat...I try over and over but will vomit every time...sometimes even hours later ..no matter how much I chew I do miss meat

Nailing it on the head...as always
Thanks for your post, you always come up with great topics. Gives me cause to really exercise my brain. Keep 'em coming, I need to work the mind as well as the body! I'm grateful I have had no complications. But for all those who have and have perservered, I admire you all immensely.
BTW - you are doing awesome, I am having the best time watching your stats change. Wonderful ride, isn't it?!

I'm with you Vanessa - I really consider myself one of the lucky ones. I think we all deal with our own complications - and becuase we lose the weight and get off other meds, can move, can breath - can literally live - we don't look at our special circumstances as anything other than a "work around issue". I would take my issues over others - why? Because I'm used to mine, I've learned to live with mine. We're all pretty flexible in how we deal with these changes in our lives!

I am just like Van. Solids are not my friend either. They make my pouch feel ill. It's just an uncomfortable, irritating feeling to have them in it. I have learned things I can eat and it is very limited, but I stick to the things that work. I REALLY miss meat. I can eat some beef and I can eat bacon, but fish and almost all chicken is out of the question. Ground beef is not good either, even though I do tolerate it sometimes. It mostly has to be steak or roast. I don't understand that part. I do still live on mostly soft foods and basically do not eat alot. I still use protein smoothies every day. I am on ulcer med now, which has helped me to tolerate a few more things and it actually feels okay to eat, not a great feeling, but a tolerable feeling. I just wish I never had to eat food again. I have to force it because I don't get hungry for things I can eat, but want all the things I can't eat (such as chicken and fish), so I just don't want to eat at all. I have gotten used to it somewhat, but there are days I still do get upset, and there are days I am happy as can be because I was able to eat something I usually can't. I love shrimp...but don't even think about me eating even a small one! It just don't go down without giving me a sick, rocks in my pouch feeling. I hate this part about having the surgery....but I'm like Van with this too.....I'd rather be alive and living than dead and six feet under, which is where I was headed. No, it's not fair, but neither is me spending the last few months of my life with my kids severely morbidly obese and not even able to be myself with my children because I was so sick and debilitated. This is what I tell my Mom when she gets upset because I can't eat, as if she did this to me......(she blames herself because she paid for my surgery to save my life)....I tell her...."I chose the lesser of the two evils, even though neither one is fair and to not feel bad for saving my life. I'm just grateful to still be here and be able to live". When I look at it that way....I can live with what I have been dealt as long as it does not get worse.

Been Away
Sorry I have missed so much here. I have had some incredible events happen in my life recently that I have been away to Colorado. I wanted to respond to this post and first off say I am so sorry for all the complications some are having. Reading about them makes me sit back and wonder, is this something my future is going to be? I have done so well with my surgery, was back to work 2 days after getting out of the hospital, have only had dumping once, and met goal weight in 7 months, and can eat ANYTHING. Am I just one of the lucky ones or am I going to really pay later down the road. For now I am greatful that I am healthy, no more meds and I can breathe, I can walk or run, I can live. I still get periods of depression but thats normal we all do when life is getting a little shakey. I do pray for you all to be healthy and happy, and for God to remove all your pain. We go through so much with this surgery and all we asked for was our heath. God Bless you all.

Rachel, you say you regret it, but you don't tell us why. Why do you feel this way? You are only 3 months out and have lost 75 pounds! Do you have complications? Maybe it something we can help you with some ideas. The only few I see that really regret having the surgery, despite the food issues some of us have, are the ones that have life-threatening problems due to the surgery, which are few and far between. Of course, it's not a bed of roses for all of us...but I can say after losing 144.5 lbs in a little over 12 months, I would take food issues ANYDAY compared to where I was going.....
