Sending you hugs....
I haven't posted here for ages as I have been busy enjoying my "new"life.I have been lucky enough to get through my first year with no complications and have just read Donnas heart rending post.
I am so sorry, Donna. I send you all my positive thoughts and energy and hope that you will get strength. I can't even imagine how scared you must be and I hope that things improve for you.
Please keep posting so that we can at least be here for youxx

It's sooo weird to look at myself in the mirror and have this skeletal old woman look back at me. My hope is that life forms such as Suzy will refrain from posting, as I just don't want to spend time and precious energy defending myself from crap flung my way. Also, if anyone knows of a website that I can read about stages of malnutrition and what is to follow, I would appreciate that muchly.
My nervous system is haywire--I jerk and twitch very much like Michael J Fox, but I don't have Parkinson's. I think I just have starvation, and my nervous system isn't happy about it. Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me info and/or some positive energy. I need every drop.

I will support you in any way I can. It might be more helpful because I've got some of the same issues. My past episodes of malnutrition have affected me recently, even though I'm not in that state right now. I guess I was enough in the past to have residual effects. Just cuz you put meat back on your bones doesn't mean your internal damage disappears.
Not sure if you read it yet, but I've got the muscle jerking, and muscle clenching when in motion, and it's gotten worse every damn day. I don't get it, but it scares the snot out of me. Doc is trying to get to the bottom of it...
The jerking and twitching is scary as hell. I'm waving my hand over here, and will support however I can. And I'm NOT Suzy/Janie/whatever the recent incarnation is.
Will you put up your own thread, in addition to having it here in the complications section? so we can support you directly without hunting, and so others will see since they might not read here?

Whenever I read these stories about severe complications I feel so awful that something you did to save your life has become such a nightmare and quite honestly, it scares the crap out of me. I hope you get some solutions soon

I have just got to say, I have been reading all these post about malnutrition and its scaring the HELL out of me, because I have already started thinking about what if I reach goal and still don't stop lossing. I am only 6 months out and Im down about 80 pounds. I want to do what ever I can to make sure this doesn't happen, So I plan to take everything you lady's say straigh to the bank. I have shared all this with my husband and thank God he is on board. The thing that really scares me also is that I have had no complications at all. I have done great since day one, and my mind is now saying oh just wait. Im thinking oh CRAP. So I know I can't give any support as to what you both are going through other than to say Im here to listen. And I will have you both in my prayers. The one thing I can tell you is thank you both for sharing this, because I feel it is of the utmost importance that everyone especially us newbies know as much as we can. Thank you Thank you Thank you. Because I am one newbie that is paying attention, and trust me I am taking in every word. Yall have sooooooooo KICKED MY BUTT into gear. DON'T MISS TAKING MY SUPPLEMENTS, AND MAKE SURE I KEEP ALL MY TEST UP TO DATE.

It isn't just taking ur vitamins and keeping your tests up to date. This happens to anyone at any time. Keeping informed of it is the reason we all keep coming back here, and why i continue to update. Not to scare people out of it.

Yep.. you can bet your bottom dollar that women like Beth and Corrine, as two PRIME examples (and apologies, if they don't want to be used this way!)... but they are two perfect examples of woman you can be sure have done exactly all the 'right' things since their surgeries and are still dealing with medical issues.
NOT doing things like getting enough protiens, fluids, vitamins and minerals is a sure-fire way to get sick and cause problems but those in and of themselves are still NO GUARANTEE that we will be without complications post-op.
Basically.. we have all signed up to be lab rats, for life. *sigh*..

I didn't have any complications either. I lost weight easily and quickly. I felt great. It's only been in the past year that I've had these problems due to RNY.
It can happen ANY TIME postop.
And that is a CRITICAL piece of information that should be heavily considered BEFORE anyone chooses a malabsorption type of WLS.

Ditto. There are many "out there living the good life postop" who don't feel the need to participate here. But I joined 5 years postop because I KNEW there were potential complications even if I was so far out. Matter of fact I'm pretty sure that it's the years out problems that most of us aren't even thinking about. I'm not here to scare anyone away. I'm just hoping to help educate those who are weighing the option of surgery.

I totally agree, this is why not only am I going to make sure I get my supplements in, eat all my nessasary protein and neve miss my apointments for all my test. I have also learned the value of a journal. These fourms are of utmost value. Its nice to see it use for a benifit and Im hoping all the bashing will come to a hault.
